Tea Rose by Perfumers Workshop for Women - 3.4 oz EDT Spray

A delicious, delicate perfume

I like rose perfumes and was looking for a replacement for the sadly discontinued Paul Smith Rose. Very good reviews of this but at the price I didn't have great expectations,but cheap enough to blind buy. So glad I did, it is wonderful, a linear but very accurate "green" rose that has surprisingly good longevity on my perfume eating skin. As this has been in production since 1977 and everyone seems to think it still smells the same as always, I'm hopeful it wouldn't fall victim to the horrendous reformulations so many scents have gone through.

I am really nicely surprised by this. Firstly don't take too much notice of the negatives about this Tea Rose. I did and after reading the negatives went away to continue my search for a single rose smell that is unaffected by other flowery aromas. I was after that spiritually uplifting rose smell that was rose and all rose. I did not want the interference of other smells no matter how lovely they worked together. I think I looked at the price and thought no it can't be good. Luca Turin gives this 4 stars and a good honest write up and yet I still continued my quest, researched more and brought more expensive blind buys. But thankfully I came back had another look and purchased this and I am so glad I did. It is a little beaut. If you want a perfume that is complex with head and heart notes that deliver lots of layers then this may not fulfil that brief but there is a whole load of rose for the money in this bottle. It maybe down to skin chemistry if this does not work for you but at this price it is not a costly blind buy to be honest.

It isn't particularly complex on the skin but with rose that really isn't an issue - such an authentic creation of the scent of a large rose bush in full bloom on a thundery day in the garden can easily stand alone. This is a rather strong perfume and due to sensitivities I'm sadly unable to use it as a body fragrance so instead I'm using it as a beautiful room and fabric scent. After I've sprayed it on the front door curtain, it produces a truly gorgeous waft of roses each time it is opened. It would also be lovely sprayed on freshly washed linen and bedspreads stored in the airing cupboard. I had fresh red roses in a vase recently and a guest arrived and they immediately pointed to and commented on "the beautiful scent of the roses", so this is testimony to its very authentic rose fragrance. A lovely creation at just the right price point - I would compare it to Jo Malone's "Red Roses" although happily the sillage of Tea Rose beats hers hands down, so if you're looking for another authentic rose scent, here it is.

Light easy to wear all year

I have bought this perfume as in my memories was that nice Rose Fragrance which I smelled in my childhood but this perfume is totally waste of money. It is better to buy £2-£3 rose water than this perfume. Very disappointed with this low quality perfume.

Like most of my fellow customers, I loved this perfume in the 80s. My sister gave me the eau de parfum version and it came in an opaque dark grey bottle. Very classic-looking back then and the perfume was strong so all I needed was 2 short sprays and that lasted a good 24 hours. I was delighted to see this perfume back on the market. The packaging is more basic, it is far more reasonably priced than I remember and it is just an eau de toilette but the smell is exactly the same and the eau de toilette also lasts very long. It is just as delightful as it was before - makes you feel like you are standing in a garden filled with fragrant old-fashioned English roses - and it brings back so many happy memories. I hope it remains on the market as I will definitely buy it again when this bottle runs out.

I don’t know what I was expecting but I know it’s good for toilet and towel. Very strong rose smell . A bit too strong .
