they are more oval than round. they may shed.

Are the bristles real camel hair or synthetic material?

I believe that they are real hair/fur. I find that they shed, but that could be a fluke. I've had them for many years and didn't soak them. It all depends on how you are going to use them. I've since learned that all real hair/fur brushes should be soaked for about ten minutes before using them. The results are much better. Just don't leave brushes standing in water, but you probably already know that. Enjoy
