### Reseña honesta – Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 *(Experiencia real tras uso intensivo, Windows y Linux, comprador LATAM )* 5 meses de uso. #### **Resumen corto** Decepcionante para el precio. No para cualquiera. La ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 **es una workstation premium bien diseñada para entornos corporativos de EE. UU.**, pero **no es una compra óptima para freelancers o compradores en LATAM** si se adquiere por Amazon u otros canales retail de EE. UU. El problema **no es solo el hardware**, sino **la combinación de firmware, políticas térmicas, GPU limitada por diseño y, sobre todo, el soporte regional**. DECEPCIONA en webcam y sonido. --- ## **Cuándo SÍ comprarla** ### ✔ Compradores en **Estados Unidos** * Si compras **directamente a Lenovo Business** o partner corporativo. * Si tienes: * **On-Site Support real (Next Business Day)** * International Warranty Service (IWS) explícito * Si tu uso es: * Desarrollo profesional * CAD / ingeniería ligera * Virtualización moderada * Trabajo corporativo estable * Si valoras: * Pantalla calidad, iluminación. * Peso contenido para una workstation * Buen teclado centrado sin num pad (que es molesto para un desarrollador) 👉 En este escenario, **la P1 cumple lo que promete**. --- ## **Cuándo NO comprarla** ### ✘ Freelancers / consultores independientes en **LATAM** Especialmente si: * La compras en **Amazon (SKU USA)** * No tienes infraestructura corporativa Lenovo local * Esperas: * Soporte on-site real * Reparaciones rápidas sin envío internacional * Estabilidad absoluta en Windows out-of-box * Buena camara * buen sonido. * IPS con mejor calidad. #### Problemas reales encontrados: Esto fué mas problema de windows, pesimo soporte. * **Congelamientos frecuentes en Windows 11**, incluso tras reset de fábrica. * BSOD y bloqueos sin pantalla azul. * Lenovo Vantage consume recursos y empeora la estabilidad. * Políticas térmicas muy agresivas: ES MUY RUIDOSA * Ventiladores se activan constantemente. * GPU RTX 4070 está **muy limitada en potencia** comparada con modelos gaming. Sensación general: 👉* DECEPCIONANTE PARA EL PRECIO, MAS CARA QUE UNA MAC Y TERRIBLE. * Mucho “control empresarial” * Poco margen para tuning real. --- ## **Sobre la GPU (expectativa vs realidad)** * RTX 4070 Laptop en la P1: * **Muy capada en TGP** * Rinde similar a una RTX 3070 gaming bien alimentada * No es una máquina pensada para: * Gaming serio * IA local pesada * Uso sostenido de GPU al 100% Para eso, **un equipo gaming de gama alta o eGPU externa rinde mejor y cuesta menos**. --- * Resultado: * Hardware caro * Soporte incompleto * Valor percibido bajo * Muy pesada * Muy ruidosa * Sonido horrible. * camara web pesima (un robo) * IPS con poco ajuste de balance de blancos. --- ## **Conclusión final** La ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 **no es un mal equipo**, pero **sí es un producto mal entendido**. * ✔ Excelente si eres empresa en EE. UU. con contrato Lenovo Business. * ✘ Mala compra para freelancers LATAM buscando potencia, estabilidad y soporte real. * ✘ Sobreprecio si no puedes aprovechar su ecosistema corporativo completo. **Si eres independiente, quieres estabilidad, potencia y valor real por tu dinero: hay mejores opciones.** La P1 solo vale lo que cuesta **cuando se compra y se usa en el contexto correcto**. **Compra informada = compra correcta.**

BUYING FROM THEM VOIDS WARRANTY
Listed as new. After 2 months the hard drive dies. Use the Amazon support button and talk to Lenovo. Send in the laptop. Lenovo says it's 3rd party and won't honor the warranty. Might as well have bought used. $3k is a lot for a brick. Horrible seller.

Almost a brick after a year of use. Expected better.
OEM SSD apparrantly failed during a BIOS update shortly after the manufacturer warranty expired. Machine refused to POST and had to get it repaired with the Asurion Warranty, luckily I purchased it. If I didn't, this would have been a ~$3000 brick. I literally got the emails from Lenovo letting me know the warranty expired as it died on me. Expected better from the legendary Lenovo, I hope I get at least 5 more years outta this thing.
