Disciplines of a Godly Woman – Christian Gifts for Women

The Discipline of a Godly Woman is a very encouraging and insightful book. It challenges women to grow spiritually and live with intention in their daily lives. The lessons are practical, biblically grounded, and easy to apply. It’s a great read for anyone wanting to deepen their faith and develop stronger discipline in their walk with God.

My friend and I are currently going through this book, and we have gained insightful conversations from Hughes's topics and points about discipline. The book has been helpful toward my accountability levels, and I would recommend this book to a friend or peer who wants to take a serious, intentional step in aligning their life to Christ's will.

Great book for Christian women!

I have really been challenged lately in my lack of discipline in my spiritual life. I have also been surprised at my lack of knowledge in certain parts of this area. I'm not certain why it isn't taught on a regular basis in our churches or ministries, but I really wish it was. Since I knew I needed some extra guidance and study in this area, I was thrilled to see a book specifically on this topic and just for women. It was exactly what I needed to read. This book wasn't a "make me feel good" book. It was challenging and there were parts of it that I wasn't really looking forward to doing. Like a good exercise program, it's sometimes hard to actually lace up those tennis shoes. If found that same problem was true when it came to spiritual disciplines. It requires time and for those of us who are busy (really...who isn't these days...), we have lost the respect for silence and mediation and contemplation that we need to have to help further deepen our relationship with God. The book really required me to be honest with myself. I have the ebook version of this book, but I plan on buying the physical copy because I really want to highlight it and study it. I think it would be a great women's ministry tool. Barbara is constantly pointing her readers back to Scripture and what God says. This is also a book I'd love to use to mentor other women. So much changes when our eyes are focused on godliness and growing in holiness. __________ I received this book free from Crossway in exchange for my honest opinion of this book.

Highly recommended for man to get his lady

The book was in good shape for used although it had a lot of writing all throughout it but some of the notes were good for reference.

Taught me what I needed to know and learned a lot! Must-have if you want a fulfilling life and to be the best woman you can be.

The only part I didn't really care for (and please don't base your decision on my opinion about 1 chapter) was Discipline in Singleness. Author gives one view of many for singleness. I'm in a different place and walk in my singleness through my own trials and didn't find much edification in this chapter. I personally didn't care for this chapter, but again, that's just my own perspective. She does mention some things that I did like, but a lot I didn't. Author struggled with this chapter and understandably so, as she has been married for so long. And nothing wrong with that either. I highly recommend this book. So much good Godly things to learn. Great book to study with other women from different walks of life.

Beautiful beautiful book! I’m only halfway through but I would highly recommend to anybody looking to deepen their relationships with Christ, learn how to stay disciplined as a daughter of the Most High, and who isn’t afraid to be clocked!!!

When you try an author you have never read before, you never know what you will get. With this book you will get something unexpected and exceptional. It is not always a comfortable read, but it is grounded in Scripture and is an excellent resource for personal use or group use. It would be great for disciplining women in the church. I bought more copies for friends and a copy for the church library, as I intend to keep my copy and read it again.
