I purchased this book for my 10 year old son, and it's perfect! Awesome photography and clear, concise information that's not over simplified -- I think anyone who's not a serious astronomer could learn something from this book. It gives a tour of the solar system's 13(?!) planets, with a nice table of interesting facts for each one (lengths of days and years, average temperatures, etc.). It also gives general information on stars, pulsars, black holes, and other objects and phenomena in outer space. Not to mention a history of discoveries old and new. So even if you don't have kids and want an interesting "coffee table" book, I would highly recommend this one for anyone interested in outer space!

Purchased it for my 6 year old niece who has loved learning about the solar system at school. The book provides excellent information on each planet and and a pictorial prediction of what the surface looks like. It then moves beyond the solar system with information on galaxies, space phenomena, and even a guess at what alien life might look like. She absolutely loves it.

When we bought this book, my daughter was 7 and at first she was a bit skeptical if we could read it all the way long. But as expected from National Geographic, it has many beautiful pictures and illustrations and easy to understand. Now she is 10 and we read this book 3 times and each time, we learned something new or remembered something that we forgot. This is a great book to have more knowledge about space. We started with the big book series and switched to these books afterwards. Always happy with the purchase. Very high quality of printing, great pictures and information. National Geographic is our number one to go. Definetly a purchase recommendation.

Got the book by chance in library binding format . The book is very nice, good, informative and also very beautiful. Was a little damaged but ok. This book is better than other space encyclopedias. This book is highly recommended for children above 14 years also Very good product, must buy
