My saw shop said they could tell who is using quality oil and who isn't by looking at ring wear. Hundreds of hours on my saw and it still hasn't needed service, so Im thinking it's worth the little price bump to buy it.

If there is one thing I have learned after all these years doing construction and yard maintenance it's that your power tools are your best friend! When you buy Stihl products such as trimmers, blowers and chainsaws, you are best to use their products especially when you are making up your own 50:1 mixes. My last Stihl trimmer FS110 was over 10yrs old as well as Stihl's SR400 mist blower equaling that because I did what the small engine repair guys said to do "Don't Use Anyone Else's Oil But The Manufacturers and your equipment will last a long time". I definitely, agree with them! I wish I had listened to them about my Stihl chainsaw as I was using another manufacturers oil and it cost me. My Stihl hated every bit of the other manufacturers oil so much that it ceased up the piston due to the chemical mix of the oil not lubricating the engine as it should have. Believe me when I say I am careful to follow mixing requirements so it was a shock to me that my $800 chainsaw did this. I learnt a hard lesson that day! Still wish Stihl and resellers would lower their prices for this product seems to be overly priced no matter where you go. It was just easier for me to obtain the oil from Amazon and was here very shortly thereafter.
