ID Card Case + Lanyard + Badge Holder Retractable Reel Carabiner and Plastic Clip (Horizontal Black)

My job requires me to wear a credit-card sized ID, which I must touch against a sensor when I go through any door. So, having an ID holder that is easily accessible is critical to me. The badge holder is exactly what I needed. The retractable cord has two ways to attach to your body - one slides onto your pants' belt loop and the other is a clip that opens/closed around a belt, lanyard, strap, whatever. The retractable cord is very long, about three feet, and pulls/retracts easily. I really like having the included badge holders. They are basic, cheap leather holders, but they do what I need. They are also better than the cheap, plastic badge holders my job provides. Those cheap plastic ones wear out every few months, causing me concern they will break away and get lost, but the included faux leather holders seem like they will last me a very long time and I have little fear of them breaking/getting lost. My problem with this item is the retractable cord. In the 2+ months that I used these, they both broke at the point where the cord disappears into the disc. There is no way to repair or replace the cord, so the retractable component is now worthless. In both instances when the cord broke, there was nothing unusual happening. The holder did not get caught on anything. It simply snapped when I went to pull the extend the cord. Because I like the faux-leather holder, I will keep them and buy retractable cord/belt clip from another company.

I was really excited to get this ID case and lanyard so I could have my ID attached to a lanyard with a retractable reel. I need to use my ID to unlock doors and not having a retractable option was not ideal. Overall I'm dissatisfied with this product. The retractable reel is unnecessarily oblong and having so many separate clips makes it longer and so you have extra clips hanging off your lanyard that you can't remove. When standing up, my ID hung down at about crotch height which is not great. Then to top it all off, I wanted to use the clip to attach my ID to reduce the likelihood of it falling off, but they made the ID badge have too much fabric on the top portion of the hole so the clip won't even fit on it!! I attached some photos for reference--my apologies for the focus on them. The material of the badge holder is stiff (which is usually ideal) but that makes it so you can't force it behind the clip to get it latched. I even tried to cut a small slit in it to try and help, but that didn't work. I really like the badge holder, so I'm keeping that but am definitely ordering a different retractable lanyard with a better design. I would definitely not recommend this product.

I wanted to use the chain I already had, but threading the ID pouch through the chain link was hard as heck. I guess if I just used the attached strap I would have liked it better.

I use this at my waist, hooked on to a belt loop, and it is really working out well for me. I was initially put off by the additional length that the hook/hanger adds overall - it dangles a bit - but I've used it for several weeks now and am used to it. The clip has robust construction and I no longer have to scrape my belt when I put it on. I also like the solid construction of the badge holder. I don't have to worry that I'm going to bend my badge anymore.
