These things are the secret to my green thumb. It’s so important not to over or under water plants. With this meter you will know how moist your plant is clear to the bottom of the pot. So much cleaner too. No need to stick your finger in the dirt. I find them to be extremely accurate. I had one for years that never failed me until I dropped it one day and broke it. The new one works perfectly too. Incredible price for the value it adds to plant care.

If you have a house plant, you NEED this item. Unless you are an expert horticulturist, there is no way to be accurate with watering. While the top of the soil may seem dry, the soil around the roots can be wet. Putting your finger in the soil can only test as far as your finger can reach. You need something that gets to the roots to determine the true test of moisture in the soil. For that reason, this is PERFECT! Oftentimes I thought my plant was completely dry but, when inserting this meter, it came up as WET. My plants have flourished since using this as they are never under or over watered anymore. There is no battery required or anything else needed to use this. You just put the spike down into the soil and it instantly shows you how much moisture is in the soil, either DRY, MOIST, or WET. Don't water any houseplant without this! You won't be disappointed!

I gave this a four becasue it does work but you need to be careeful with it. It is a little delicate. I have purchased more than one because eventually it didn't work but it was at least a year and I wonder if I did anything wrong. I have one for inside and one for outside plants. I wold say for the price I am happy with this.

** Added a video, forgive the very sad avo in th background - It just shows one of many inaccuracies this meter has. I’ve tried multiple plants in multiple locations within their planter. Here, I’m about a 1.5” from the bottom of the pot, close to the roots but a few cm away. Meter right in, and all I’m doing is trying to hold it steady. It’s not moving spots in the soil, mere tilting side to side. There’s no way I chose a spot that has exact opposite soil on either side of the stake. ** I haven’t coded my pimoroni grow yet so I wanted a cheap “in the meantime” option. I should have guessed it’d be a dud. The box it came in(actual packaging) was destroyed but the shipping box was fine 🤨 either way it was reading moist soil at a 1 of 10. I watered an avocado sprout with a deep 30 minutes slow soak and came back two hours later to test this thing again, it still read 3 (dry) but when I put it into a literal new bag of bone dry sand substrate it reads moist. I tried multiple spots in each plant I tested, even went down almost to the water table and couldn’t get anything about a 4(moist) - idk if it has a return policy but the box was busted so I already tossed it. Someone probably sent it back and they sent it to me. Been getting a lot of that lately 🙃 anywho, maybe there are hit or miss ones and I got the dud but still a bummer. I’ll buy one for a more reputable seller ig. Just know that you’ve got a 50/50 shot of it working when you buy from this listing so if you’re feeling lucky, go for it, if not, there are hundreds of other sellers for only a few bucks more ✌️Don’t be cheap like me 🥲

Although I have a moderately "green thumb," I still struggled with thick-leaved succulents (e.g., jade plants). I know that I probably overdid the watering and caused them to develop root rot. With this nifty device, I can find out in a flash if the center of the pot remains moist, even if the uppermost soil seems dry. So far so good!!

Best item ever! No batteries, no USB, no plugs. It just tests the moisture in the soil so I know when to water. It’s so easy to use!
