This device works really well. I am 87 yrs of age, I can easily roll up a solar pool cover at 16 m without help. It has been able to maintain my pool temperature. In the past 6 days the temp has gone up 6 degrees. I highly recommend this useful idea. It works !

First of all the product is amazing. For any pool owner that has struggled with their solar cover it can be a real nuisance taking it on and off manually. I did this for 9 years and thought a basic pool reel was just trading in on problem for a different problem. The solar mechanism is a God sent. Easy to install, always charged (even in not so sunny Pittsburgh, PA). It's as easy as pressing a button on a remote. Easy open easy close. As soon as I ordered the product on Amazon, Gabor with Solar Lakes called me immediately to make sure what I ordered would work with the pool reel I was going to use (who does that?) In fact he verified it did and shipped the product quickly. A little over a year later a small plastic piece called a motor shaft adaptor broke and I could not find this piece anywhere. I contacted Solar Lakes thru Amazon message and Gabor contacted me immediately. He verified what I needed and shipped me out the new part the next day. He not only did not charge me for this part he upgraded to an aluminum motor shaft adaptor. Wonderful product and Company!

This is a great product. It is easy to install and works well with my 18 x 35 oval shaped pool. When I made my inquiry about this product, Gabor asked if he could see pictures of my pool location and got back to me with detailed information including if I would receive enough sun for the reel system to work and the proper placement of the solar panel. I was very impressed with the fact that he did not just sell me the system, he wanted to make sure that it would work in my location. A couple of tips-definitely trim the pool cover to fit inside the pool so that it does not drag on anything. Second, experiment with unrolling and rolling the cover with either the bubbles out or the bubbles in to see which way it rolls on more evenly. Third, experiment with positioning of the reel and mark the position on the surface once you have it in place. In our case we have to keep the reel on a slight angle instead of straight across to get our cover to roll on evenly. It does take some trial and error but once it is set up it works great. I can operate this by myself and the remote controls are an added bonus.

I've been researching automatic pool cover reels for 2 years now, we live near Seattle and the water evaporates quickly with temp. changes between day and night. As we are aging we get lazy about pulling the cover back over the pool, it tends to hurt our backs. Many of the automatic cover options are over $20,000 and/or required being added while pool is being built. When I found Solar Lakes product I was excited - a tiny bit skeptical but hopeful. I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. WE LOVE IT!!! After I ordered it I immediately got a call from Gabor for pictures of my pool and reel, making sure it would work. It arrived within the week. When I discovered there weren't directions and I thought one of the parts looked slightly damaged I called Gabor. He answered the phone! Seriously - first time I called - in person! He was so very kind. He told me there were instructions on the web but sent the links to my e-mail. He asked for a picture of the part I wondered about. He said it didn't look quite right and did an OVERNIGHT delivery of the same part that day! NO CHARGE TO ME! He included a label so I could return the damaged one for free also. Gabor is as amazing as the Solar Automatic Pool Blanket Reel! I am so happy we bought this. The remotes work great, it's easy to use. I feel reassured that if anything happens I can call Gabor and get the help I may need.

I am a “Brit” so usually reserved in my feedback but I am absolutely delighted with this product and Solar-Lakes service. We are seniors, live in Northern California and as you can see from a photo, surrounded by trees. The pool is never closed up for the winter. We upgraded from a prior model and it is even better. Features I particularly like: - The rolled up cover fits under the diving board, giving us more flexibility of positioning and it looks tidier. - The new solar panel is rotatable so I can position it optimally. It is also good looking. - The remotes/receiver seem more powerful. No problem with a 35’ range to operate from the other end of the pool. - I was only caught out once over the winter with a weak battery. My fault. I should have turned it off when it obviously wasn’t charging for over a week. - I like the manual override switch. Clearly one of the benefits of this system is the remote control, but it is convenient to have a switch also if you just want to adjust the cover and the remote is in the house. - The motor seems to have lots of power. The cover is 30’x16’, 14 mil and it has no trouble hauling it in. - You can’t beat the price. - Customer service is excellent. Timely, accurate and friendly in answering questions. I feel I have my pool under control now: a great chemical balance system, a good robotic cleaner and now easy cover and reel handling. This pool boy is happy.

Beware of this seller as if you have any issues with the product you have to pay to send it to him and pay for any repairs. You will be without it for a few weeks and won't be able to use your roller. He is only interested in charging more when it fails. When I questioned him, he got angry and said had plenty of customers and did not need my business. I paid over $1700 to be able to use the electric motor for about 10 times total over the year that I have had it. I need to change my initial rating, as Gabor only stood behind the product as long as I gave him a 5 star rating initially. I had an issue with the solar panel after a month or so and I had to send it back to him to repair. He stated it must have fallen in the pool and I let him know it didn't, but we had very heavy rains. He said rain would not do that and he would only replace it if I gave him the 5 star rating. I asked him if I needed a new motor as well and he stared that the motor doesn't get affected by water like the solar panel does, so it should be fine. I got it back a couple of weeks after I sent it to him. I stored the panel in the house and the motor in the garage over the winter, so neither was in the elements. I used it a few times this spring and then it just stopped working. I had to pay once again to send the solar panel back to him, he didn't find anything wrong with it and charged me $55 before he would ship it back to me. I asked about a warranty and he said there was not one so I had no choice but to pay him. I got it back and it worked twice before it stopped again. I contacted Gabor and he wanted me to send the panel and motor back, which I had to pay for. Now, after him telling me the motor doesn't get affected by water like the panel did, he tells me it must have fallen in the pool now. He stated that he fixed the motor for now for $55 but it would probably stop working again. He gave me an option to replace the motor for about $375. I advised that I was 100% sure it did not fall in the pool since he fixed the panel and once again we had very heavy rains and I was not pleased with the product. He didn't like that i questioned him and then advised me that he could survive without my business and was sending back my defective motor and panel.

I recently purchased a motorized solar cover roller and, despite paying a premium, my experience was extremely disappointing. The product was not as advertised, and I had to pay extra for a matching adapter that should have been included. I spoke with Gabor, who initially claimed he was just the engineer and not responsible for what was included in the package. This was misleading, as Gabor is indeed the seller and should be fully aware of the product details. The adapter that came with the product did not fit the end of my aluminum tube. While the description mentioned that it did not include an aluminum tube or stainless T-legs, it failed to mention that the adapter might not fit and that an additional cost could be incurred. To my frustration, Gabor charged me an extra $48 for a 3-D printed adapter, without offering any discount. As someone familiar with 3-D printing, I know this should not cost anywhere near $50 to produce. It's disappointing that Gabor prioritized profit over customer transparency and fairness. To date, the item description has not been updated to reflect these issues. I hope Amazon support addresses this matter promptly, as this lack of transparency is unfair and misleading to customers.

Shipping was fast, set up straightforward, and it works beautifully. The remote control function allows me to take the pool cover off and put it on by myself, which I couldn’t do before. It stores very neatly. The owner of the company is extremely responsive and prompt with service and assistance, helping me with setup and when I had a self-induced complication with the unit. He was quick and very fair with the replacement part I broke in my own error. (*PSA: weight your reel and be careful using in windy conditions.) Highly recommend this product and this company.

I could definitely rate this a 10 Stars if it was available. very sturdy built.Excellent system, works like a charm no back aches anymore and does the work in 1 minute. Too bad we didn't buy this sooner. Super Customer service and very well made video on site showing the full installation. Once you do get the hang of it, the rolling up and out of the pool blanket goes so smooth and effortless! The best buy of the season. And to top it up, the seller Gabor is extremely helpful and generous. He goes out of his way to help you set it up and have it running. He takes the time to answer all your question and set you at ease. Thank you Gabor!
