Are the cows given grains to eat or do they only have access to grass year around?

Our product currently is made from butter from cows who have access to grass year-round and are not fed any grains.

Seller: Are you still using milk from cows who are not fed grains, as you were doing three years ago?

The short answer is, our ghee for the last 3 years is entirely grass-fed.

There are other questions regarding grass-fed in here, and you can see some of the minutiae. As we buy butter in bulk, we are sourcing from numerous dairy farmers who sell their product to a wholesaler, where we purchase. The wholesaler guarantees 100% grass-fed butter for at least 300 days out of the year. Occasionally during the winter months if the the weather is too cold or too wet the cows are fed a combination of haylage and silage indoors, which is pulled from the same pastures they graze. More occasionally still, and depending on the length of the weather event and the amount of haylage gathered during the year, grain may be used to supplement their diet until they can graze again, but not more than 6 lbs of grain per cow per day.

We do our best not to order butter from milk gathered during these winter months, so in the last 3 years our ghee is 100% grass-fed, but being fully transparent, there may be the occasional batch that is not.

I love this ghee! The past several months they've come in hipped jars. I prefer your jars w/ the straight sides. Will you bring these back please?
