I had a Brown&Sharpe mic when I was younger working in a wire mill. The guys said stay away from the Starrett ones. I don't know why, both work fine. I like Starrett tools, a local company for me, this mic is well made and works fine. I only use it randomly when I need to measure a drill bit or wire, well-made, good price, easy to read.

This product does not measure to the tenths. Buy the one that does if your machining. It is 100$ more though. It only measures .000 not .0000 which is wat u need for machining.

Got it for a great price. Quality tool and accurate. Does it's job every time.

The Starrett 436 0-1 mic is definitely a Best Buy. I am a tool and die maker by trade and must rely on my precision measuring. I would absolutely recommend this product and seller.

i have a cheap metric micrometer, but needed a imperial one for a project, used to use starrett micrometers many years ago. this is their budget range, still a cracking micrometer.
