New Nintendo 2DS XL Handheld Console - Pre-installed with Animal Crossing New Leaf: Welcome amiibo

This is such a good console! I got it as a Christmas present for myself and as a up-grade from my Original 3DS XL which is starting to feel its age. I'm so impressed with it! The black and blue colour combo is stunning and compliments itself really well. The screens are really clear and really good quality and speed wise...its really fast! I have currently tested out Mario Kart 7, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Zelda Ocarina of Time, Nintendogs and Cats and Ultra Moon, Pokemon Platinum and Pokemon X. All of these games load up nice and quick, especially Ultra Moon (it doesn't have that stupid 'please wait' message when you close the game down anymore!). The sound is also of really good quality, even on DS games. The buttons are really responsive and I love the fact that both the game cartridge and the micro SD card are protected at the bottom of the system and easy to get to (no worries about accidentally popping out my game or dreading taking the system apart to get to the SD card anymore - should I need to). I haven't got any games that require the C-stick so I haven't been able to test that out yet. I also really like the fact that you have to switch on the internet of the system within the system itself and not on a slider. The delivery was also nice and quick. All in all, I'm really happy with my new system and have already done the system transfer from my Original 3DS XL and have made my 2DS XL my main console. Almost forgot to mention, it's really comfortable to hold. I have small hands myself and my previous console would start to feel really heavy after a few hours of gaming. The 2DS XL fits really nicely into my small hands and definitely seems to be lighter than the Original 3DS XL.

After 10 or so years I decided to upgrade my now very old DSi. In some ways the 2ds XL is superior in others it's quite a lot worse.The number of available games is great on the 2ds, the home screen and software in general is a huge step forwards.However, the case design leaves a lot to be desired:1. It feels a lot cheaper than the DSi. The DSi (at least the metallic blue one I have) felt premium, it has a nice soft matte finish. The 2ds XL feels a lot more plasticy and less rigid overall.2. The hinge being on the outside adds a lot of space for what seems like a huge downgrade. The 2ds XL feels clunky when you open it and regardless of where you place the screen it wobbles slightly while gaming. There's only a couple of positions the screen stops at and the clicking noise it makes sounds like something is broken. In comparison the DSi hinge was stiff so you could place it at any angle and have it stay there without wobbling.3. The buttons and D-Pad are a lot more "clicky" which some may prefer but pressing them is louder and cheap feeling.4. What was wrong with loading the cartridges from the top? It was quick, easy and you could do it with the screen up. The new design hides the cartridges behind a movable flap at the bottom. For me it is a lot less convenient as you need fingers to hold the flap back. Not a major problem but it seems like they set out to fix a problem that didn't exist.5. The stylus. The console is bigger than the DSi, the DS Lite was smaller and had a SLOT-2 port taking up a lot of space and they managed to fit a decent sized stylus. Not only is the stylus too short, it's in an awkward position. For right handed people, the stylus on the right of the console made it easy to remove and replace. At the front it's a lot more awkward.I managed to get a pack of 5 metal telescopic styluses that fit in the slot on ebay for £2.99.. the poor stylus shows that Nintendo were watching every penny when designing this which is a shame as I'd have happily paid a bit more for a console with a bit more of a premium feel.It's a great little console and I really enjoy playing it but the build quality and obvious cost cutting lose it a star.

I’m absolutely over the moon with this 2DS XL. Not only was it on prime, but the quality of the DS was fantastic. A few tiny case marks and bottom screen marks, but absolutely nothing that wouldn’t be expected in a used product. Obviously each may differ, but mine came in a very nice, new looking hard zip case with a good quality long charging cable and a 4gb micro sd card. I’ve played it for a few days now and it runs flawlessly. Honestly couldn’t pick any fault at all.

Went for this colourscheme because it was definitely the best in the bunch, but Tomodashi life is an abomination - I uninstalled it within several minutes.However, the console itself is AMAZING. I have wanted to update my original DS for some time, but never did so mainly because all the 3DS models are way too heavy, which hurts my hands. This gives me a similarly large console with a similar battery life. The battery life itself is extremely impressive. I played an emulated SNES game for nearly 6 hours yesterday with the WiFi on and birghtness on 4 out of 5, and was not even halfway down my battery. The ability to emulate games was the other big draw: I will be able to play games from SNES to gameboy advanced, ds and 3DS, all the titles I was never able to access, all on this one tiny machine.I am also happy with Nintendo handling privacy. You can use the device without making an account if you want to, and you are being prompted to opt out/turn off any services that use your data. Big thumbs up, this makes me happy.I could not be happier. Worth every penny.

Update: A few months after I bought it, it stopped working. My daughter jiggled it a bit and poof! Pressing the power button did nothing. You’d hear a bop and see a flash, but that’s it. Took it apart several times to try and fix the most common causes - and boy, are there ever a lot of issues people keep reporting with this model...! Nothing. Got another one and that one was also unfixable. Repairs are very costly. Very unhappy with it. Complete waste of money. Can’t believe Nintendo would put a flawed product on the market like this.This was a 1st of June pressie for my 5yo daughter. This is the first DS we've had in the household.Great device, but you need to know that:- It comes blank, and you need to buy everything, unless you're satisfied with downloading the free demo versions.- Some of the games are actually quite hard, even if they're rated 3+. My daughter doesn't have the dexterity to make some of the jumps, even if she knows very well what she needs to do to level up.- It works with just about any DS game, even the newest ones, but it doesn't hurt to double-check.- You need to also buy loads of Amiibo characters if you want your kid to level up.- The stylus pen is the perfect chew toy. Within the first 5 minutes, it was chewed so badly that it won't stay in its chamber anymore.- You'll need to set privacy, payment, and security restrictions as soon as you get it, before your child gets their hands on it. Loads of games come with messaging and Mii sharing features, so do be careful if your child is little. Also set a password, so that when an app asks for permission to share info, they can't automatically do that themselves.I'm happy with the console, in principle, and I plan to get her younger brother one as soon as he reaches the minimum age to play these games. But I'm not very impressed with the sheer diversity of all these expensive extras and accessories. What happened to just giving kids a good game?

I brought this for my Pokémon obsessed 7 year old for his upcoming birthday.I have been in two minds about buying one for some time as he has the original 2ds and I didn't think there would be much of a difference but I was seriously wrong! I received it today and have just taken it out of the box. This newer version completely blows its predecessor out of the water in every single way. The screens are much larger, it's got a lovely smooth and sleek design. The colour and quality of the screens are miles more superior. I was a bit worried that it would have a cheap and nasty feel to it and that the hinge would be wobbly but I don't feel either of those are an issue, feels solid and sturdy to me.The sound quality and volume is good and clear and fully adjustable (thankfully!)The Pikachu design itself is just lovely, so cute and the colours are very bright and attractive.The menus are clear and easy to navigate as well as being very nicely touch responsive instead of slow and buggy. Setting it up was super quick and easy as well. I cannot comment on game play as of yet but so far it ticks all of the boxes for me. I know my son is going to be over the moon with it. Haven't owned a Nintendo console for nearly ten years. The 3ds got released and I didn't really think anything of it. Owned a vita and was very happy with it. The only thing I missed was Monster Hunter since it jumped ship from Sony to Nintendo.I decided, at long last, to buy myself this new model. Cheaper, lighter and with all the important capabilities of the new 3ds, it looked like a good deal.I've actually been very impressed with it. I knew going in (and you should too) that the screens in the system were likely to be of a lower quality to what I'm used to with phones these days, and knowing Nintendo, likely TN. I knew it might have a lower build quality to the other main 3ds'. I knew it might have little quirks or faults. But all in all, I've very much enjoyed owning it. The system itself has no major faults and seems to be put together very well, despite being made of possibly worse materials. However this means it is much lighter, and I found this very useful for long sessions. The face buttons are clicky and tactile, the touchpad is very responsive, it's just a very good gaming experience. The screens are better than I expected, with ample brightness, and after having played a lot of hours on it, good enough resolution. Of course it looks a little blocky at times, but the trade-off is better battery life and performance overall. The operating system is light and easy to use and is integrated fantastically well. Hopping from game to web browser for instance takes seconds. However you do have to close games when other larger applications are opened, unlike your modern smartphone. But that's to be expected.All in all I've had a brilliant time with this system. It's a budget version of a 3ds XL, and that was exactly what I was after. It does everything it should and is the best bare basics for a good experience. If you've never played a 3ds before, I would probably say to get this as it's a solid purchase. Not the best 3ds money can buy, but certainly the best entry into the family.

Having owned quite a few Nintendo consoles over the years I have to say I had drifted away from them.Whilst having an internet shopping browse I stumbled across the New (ish) 2DS XL being advertised. I then read some reviews and before I knew it had placed an order..!I enjoyed my previous 3DS XL and was initially wowed by the 3d effect but as for so many I found it strained my eyes and head slightly after a while and had to be held at just the right angle etc which became tedious. It was also a bit heavy in arthritic hands after some play time.Having agonised over which colour to go for ( opted for black / blue ) I hit the ' Buy it Now ' button and next day it arrived... excellent..!Really pleased with it - it looks good and feels well made, solid joints and no silly wobbles. Finger print proof upper surface. Fairly light and a neat design but with large screens - I would agree with others and say its my favourite DS console to date.Only slight niggle at the mo is the short stylus but getting used to it - although it has effected my scores in some games...! Well that's my excuse anyway...Overall I am really rather chuffed with my new toy even if I am in my early fifties...!!

Todo correcto, el envío rápido y la consola que llegó en un estado perfecto. El cargador es inglés, así que deberíais tener a mano otro cargador de la consola o bien un adaptador. Quitando ello, nada distinto en relación con la otra new 2ds XL adquirida tiempo atrás en España. Compra recomendable.

Nice version of the New 2DSXL and was received in excellent condition. HOWEVER, I saw nothing in the description to indicate that it was a UK only console. You cannot set the times to anywhere in the Western Hemisphere nor will it play NA 3DS games. It will, however, play DS games just fine as will the Japanese consoles. This doesn't pose a problem for me since I possess 30+ other DS type consoles. If it had been my only DS, I would have returned it immediately.
