Q: How does someone with a bad back get in and out of the hammock?

The best way I've found is to gather the material of the hammock into a bunch around the middle of the fabric. Then ( holding onto someone if necessary), step over the fabric with one foot so that you straddle it. Reach behind you and spread the fabric out into a seat area, sit back and raise your legs into the hammock. You should end up pretty central and balanced. Getting out is the reverse procedure.

Q: is the hammock waterproof, will it manage being out in the rain?

It's ok getting wet, but as it has a lot of folds you shouldn't leave it damp as it will smell - open it out flat to dry if you can (or bring it in each night) - it only takes a few seconds to deattach. Just two hooks.

Q: Is this just as easy to take apart when not in use like it is to assemble?

Yes but make it easier by putting some grease on the threads before you assemble. Also give each pole a tap on the ground as mine seem to fill up with wood lice who can get in through the drainage holes

Q: Is it supposed to have so much fabric? when i lay in it the fabric completely covers me on the sides! like over my head and whole body? normal?

Yes, which means you can wrap it around yourself like a banana skin if it's too sunny. If it had a spreader bar, it wouldn't do that, but it doesn't (you might be able to make one, though).
