Keyhole Cover Plate Covered Escutcheon with Polished Brass Finish

Bought these because the guy who fit our deadlock on front door didn't realise the door wasn't solid so screws wouldn't take. He went off to find self adhesive escutcheons, we never heard from him again! These aren't self adhesive but we also purchased some sticky pads for external use and cut these to shape. The little lip on the 'door side' means the pads sit in perfectly. Have fitted these nicely, the screw holes are visible when the cover is lifted but not noticeably and it finishes the keyholes off nicely and better than the cheap flat escutcheons the locksmith left behind.

This product has a very good finish and looks great. It covers the keyhole as it should but there's a gap of about 2 mm between the cover and the escutcheon so it doesn't stop draughts. I got over this by sticking a piece of loop Velcro to the back of the cover thus closing off draughts coming through the keyhole.

I love the look of this, it is beautiful and compliments the brass door handle that I wanted to draft-proof. But as others had said, there is an excessive gap between the plate and the swinging flap. My example is also slightly skew-whiff and loose. The pin that holds the two parts together is loose so the flap can move an extra 1mm away from the base plate and the surface of the raised block that holds the flap away from the plate is not flat. I suspect the flap is designed to be held away from the base plate so that the flap swings easily back in place and does not get caught on the screw heads or the side of the plate. That's fine, but it needs to be manufactured a little more accurately. Others have complained about the gap allowing draught through the keyhole. I've solved that problem by using some double-sided tape to stick a circle of felt to the back of the flap. I'm pleased with how that is now working. See the picture for the felt filling the gap and also how mine is a little skew-whiff.

The brass keyhole cover has a good brass look.However,the cover is about 3mm proud of the inner keyhole section which unfortunately continues to cause draughts. Finally the screws supplied are too long and had to be replaced for shorter because the original were hitting the lock casing.

Solid, well made and does exactly what it should do. I needed to use a little WD40 as the parts were a little tight and to cut the screws down a little to fit my door. Had to ask for a replacement as the first one ordered didn’t arrive, but HandleKing sorted that after a couple of messages. Overall, very satisfied with the product being of very good quality for the price and the helpful customer service

Nice looking key hole cover which finishes off the door. Sadly the screws which come with it have heads like chocolate so I had to replace them with better quality but for the price you can't lose.

Every feature is excellent, from the gauge of the brass to the style of the design which enhances the look of my door. I am well pleased with my purchase.
