Excellence in every aspect.

I've been looking for a good pair of speakers to listen to music to, or maybe occasionally attach to my PC to be used as computer speakers when playing a really fun and immersive video game. I primarily just wanted something that sounded far more balanced than my JBL Charge 4 Bluetooth speaker. I also have a multi-media player that has terrible speakers, so I wanted to have something hooked up to that as well, in case I want to listen to old albums or cassettes. So far, I've been extremely impressed. Before I dive any further into this, please note that I am NOT an audiophile, and I understand full well that true audiophiles will probably have a lot of disagreements with my take on these speakers. I'm just a guy who wants decent, well-balanced sound that isn't as bass-heavy as a JBL Bluetooth speaker is.PROSBluetooth connectivity. I keep a ton of music on my phone, so being able to connect wirelessly to my speakers is important to me. I have a Pixel 6 phone, and it connects to Bluetooth without any issues. It also doesn't drop signal at all (at least not yet) and still maintains great sound quality for Bluetooth. I can also connect them to my PC via Bluetooth as well, but that actually doesn't seem to hold as well, but I attribute that to my PC needing a new Bluetooth adapter, since as stated before, the speakers stay connected just fine to my phone. The optical and RCA audio cables offer more input options as well. I have my multi-media player plugged in via RCA cable, and if I ever want to use these as computer speakers, I can hook them up to my PC via the optical cable. I can even hook these up to my TV if I so choose with the optical cable, so there is a lot of versatility to these speakers. Another thing to note, these come with an optical cable, a decent length of speaker wire, and a set of RCA stereo cables. I was expecting to have to go and purchase these as most higher-end speakers don't come with these cables, but these speakers do.The functionality is easier than expected. There are three dials on the side of the powered speaker: bass, treble, and volume. The volume button also acts as the power button and function button. So far, I've used mine in Bluetooth and RCA input, but have been highly satisfactory. The RCA a bit less so, but I suspect that's more to do with my multi-media player than the speakers themselves. The sound quality is extremely pleasing. I took them for an initial test spin with some Billy Joel and Warren Zevon to get a feel for how these sound with classic rock. The sound was incredibly well rounded, crisp, and well-defined. I then took them for a bit of a stress test by cranking them up with some Knocked Loose and old Bleeding Through albums, and was still incredibly impressed. The bass was responsive but not overpowering at all, and I could hear every instrument as well defined as if I was wearing studio monitors, but with far more depth. As stated before, I am not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination, but I still can recognize better sounding speakers, and these are definitely better sounding. I've had PreSonos speakers that cost a good deal more than these before, and I am far more impressed with these speakers that I was with the PreSonos.Overall, I am incredibly impressed with these speakers. I find the Bluetooth connectivity to be solid, the functions easy to use, and the sound quality superior to most of the speakers in this class, and certainly an incredible value, as many speakers with this level of quality can easily exceed $350. I would recommend these to anyone who's looking to add great sound to their office, family room, game room, or wherever you need a great set of speakers. I would certainly order these again without hesitation.

Fantastic value for the cost

The sound quality is exceptional for the cost. They look sleek and have a removable cover if you want to see the speakers. There are clear distinctions between the lows, mids, and highs. The clarity is beautiful. Everything is super crisp. They have a good weight to them which speaks to the build quality of the enclosure and the speakers themselves. I like that there are multiple connectivity options. I feel the best sound I got through them was via optical connection. I was able to connect my phone via bluetooth without any issues. I wanted to test limits so I turned everything up all the way, (bass, treble, and volume), and did not hear any distortion. They didn't blow my roof off but they were loud enough my roommate asked me to turn them down as he could feel the bass from 30' away in his room. The only thing I wish was better is the remote. It feels a little cheap and it's tiny. I feel that at some point it's inevitable that I will misplace it. It's a very minor thing though. I only mention it because there's literally nothing else to complain about.Side note: If you're using them for TV, you may want to turn the treble down a little. I noticed that some older shows and movies have a slight hiss that I couldn't hear through my tv speakers. It's important to note that isn't a fault of the new speakers. They're simply playing flaws in the audio recording themselves.

Great speakers for the price point

You can find Bluetooth bookshelf speakers for a lower price: don't.The Edifier R1280DB's are well worth $150.I tried a couple of cheaper speaker sets. There seems to be some sort of "bass fetish" currently in vogue. All the speakers I tired had a good deal of bass -- and nothing else. I like solid bass as much as the next guy, but I also like good treble and midrange -- kind of hard to hear things like vocals, guitars, violins, etc. without that upper part of the spectrum. The 1280DB's have good bass; they also have good mid- and upper range response. No, they're not going to sound like JBL K2 S9900's, but if you can afford those you're probably not shopping on Amazon anyway. For $150, the sound is great: solid bass, clear vocals, and some "life" in the upper range that I found lacking in cheaper speakers.* Volume won't knock your fillings out, but for a small set of bookshelf speakers it is more than adequate. Certainly blows rings around anything you can get directly out of most laptops or TVs.* Speaker/amplifier is very quiet in operation. I could detect no background hiss or other noise when between program material.* Bluetooth worked flawlessly. Paired instantly with every device I tried with it, did not drop connections, and latency was virtually unnoticeable.* One big plus of these speakers is that they actually have tone controls: treble and bass. A lot of Bluetooth speakers lack these, and they let you tailor the sound to your taste.* And this speaker pair can also be hard-wired to your stereo, computer, or TV, should you wish to go that route, rather than Bluetooth.* I could wish for a better (more sturdy) remote, and being able to remotely activate the tone controls would be handy, although not absolutely necessary. All in all, very happy with these. Recommended.
