Not extra large but just normal versus the tiny fonts in everyday Bibles. Cannot recommend enough. Review: Best point - it is just very appealing/pleasing to look at. - As a new catholic this Bible is great! Best point - it is just very appealing/pleasing to look at. Im 37 but have had glasses my whole life and the font is just so easy on the eyes. And it's pretty to look at as well. Can't really explain it but it is. Info is connected to the catechism some, the introduction is helpful, overall just a useful bible that I am so glad to have purchased to help me (my husband got one too! So us) continue on this journey.

Beautiful 14 pt font Bible- with Adventure Timeline insert!- perfect for annotating like crazy!
I've been listening to the Bible in a Year podcast and through that heard about the Ascension Great Adventure Bible. It's awesome! The large, clear font, the maps, the overall layout, the Great Adventure Timeline... The timeline is included as a removable fold out thingie in the back. Such an incredible way to lay out the content of the Bible. It's really changed how I think about it! There are chapter-like introductions to the different sections of the Bible, with really insightful academic and theological information. I love the heft of the Bible. (You may not, though, if you're used to smaller editions with smaller font and no additional study material that are easier to carry.) I like the faux- leather cover. I annotate the bejebus out of this Bible as I listen to the podcast. The paper is nice to the touch and a quite a bit thicker than typical Bible paper. My dense pencil annotations don't show through. The font is... 14 point? I think? I can read it without my stupid readers which tells you the font is way bigger than in a typical novel. And masses bigger than in a typical Bible. The text itself is the Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition. My understanding is the RSV was originally a Protestant translation that the Catholic church tweaked. While doing a bunch of random reading I also learned there are some differences in Protestant v Catholic Bible books content. And some differences in Bible books among Protestant denominations, too. In the 1530s, apparently, Martin Luther moved seven Old Testament books (the Deuterocanonical books or Apocrypha) to a separate section of the Bible, argued they were not equal to Scripture, and questioned the canonicity of New Testament books like James and Revelation. Um. Wow. After some thought I decided I'd rather read the Bible the way it was put together in 380-390 AD rather than how Luther decided to do it in the 1530s. AITA...? The guy criticized the Pope but then low key acted like an unelected one himself, seems to me... Am I right? I mean... he chopped up/ reedited/ and then just kinda loosely translated the Bible! What the actual? I'm of unspecified Christian persuasion, so I've got no horse in this race. Don't come after me accusing me of heresy. Anywho. Great Bible! Get it if you have dodgy eyes and like scrawling all over it and underlining everything!

Love this Bible!!!
I have bought several Bibles in my 74 years of life. It is so informative. There are introductions to all sections that provide excellent information that I learn so much from!! It is a journaling Bible so there are single columns with space to write in the very generous, lined pages. It has a Bible in a year reading plan at the beginning which I really like. Each book of the Bible is labeled so itโs easy to find whatever book you want to go to. I did add tabs that stick out from the pages just to make the books even easier to find. The synoptic gospels and John are all red-letter books which I like. It makes Jesusโs words much easier to locate. There are three ribbons which I also like since I tend to move back and forth between sections. There are numerous maps at the end of the Bible that are colorful and very easy to read. The only downside is the weight. It is very heavy, but considering how many add-ons there are and that it is all single-columned, it makes sense. It is not a problem for me but could be for people who have arm and/or hand weakness. Iโm not sure how much it weighs. This most definitely my go-to study Bible, and I love it!!

Just What I Was Looking For! Not Cheap...but Worth It!
Desiring a deeper understanding of the Bible, I sought out a conservative, true-to-the-original-intent, non-inclusive-language Bible. Having no desire to participate in the modern desire to kowtow to social justice warriors and their virtue signaling, I wanted a bible that represented the teachings of MY Catholic Church...the one I grew up in. The Great Adventure Bible was the answer to my prayers, literally. Because of my age, I wanted a large print edition to make reading easier. The GAB large print edition fits the bill, exactly. The print is easy to read, and the words of Jesus in red make it even better. The GAB includes a timeline that makes it easier to understand what was happening at any given point in biblical times. There is also introductory information to accompany that timeline, presented for the Old and the New Testament. I purchased the imitation leather edition for $79.99, so it would stay open when lying flat or when I put it on my book stand. There are matching tabs you can purchase for this bible, from the same printer, Ascension Press. I am considering acquiring them as well, to complete the set. All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase and look forward to using it to participate in the "Bible in a Year" program with Father Mike Schmitz.

Large Print Version is the Way To Go
Love this Bible. I recently began the Bible In A Year podcast and bought this companion large print edition to read along with the series. Well made. It has the Bible In A Year timeline and lots of additional study guides to help you understand what you are reading/listening too. I especially like the color coding and the summary at the beginning of each book contained in the Bible. The maps in the back of the Bible are also very helpful. The three attached ribbons are helpful as you are usually reading three different chapters each day. The larger type is easy to read. Because the large type doesn't leave room for note taking I also purchased the Bible In A Year Notebook. One picture (with pencil) is to highlight the size of the printed word. I highly recommend this version of the Great Adventure Catholic Bible.

This made me see the Bible in a totally different way
I love everything about this bible . I am a visual learner and the charts and maps in this book have really helped me to understand the salvation history timeline . I absolutely love the blue cover. Its not leather but it feels smooth and sleek. It stands out from other bibles. Important points of the bible are explained in short little power points rather than long wordy paragraphs. Then before some of the most important parts in the bible there is a few pages explaining what is about to happen and its significance . This Bible is worth the price. It looks even better than it did in the pictures and n simple terms helps people to understand the bible
