I've been using this all spring and summer so far, and it's a very handy unit - very happy with the purchase. It takes a little bit to get used to how to operate it, which is not real intuitive at first. Once you get the hang of it, it's a really useful machine. It has a lot of torque! I can cut .75" round branches all the way to thin blades of grass. It also comes with an extra set of blades, which is awesome! The extender pole has 3 sections, so it easy to use it at full length, or just one extension section, if your beading over a lot. I've used it on several big trees, and never run down the battery. Great, product. Glad I have it.

As I get older 60+, pruning trees has gotten more time consuming. I was hesitate at first about getting electric pruners, but decided to give them a try. I am so glad I did. These make pruning an ease. They are fast. The battery lasts longer than I need. Using the extension poles makes trimming the trees so easy. Safer than trying to use manual pruners especially on a ladder. So glad I bought these, I would buy again.

These are nice shears, but they have a weird bug where they stop working and you have to pull the trigger twice to get them to start again. It's really strange. Supposed to work with my makita batteries but it doesn't. Comes with its own batteries and charger though.

Can't get the pole part to work just beeps and lights up on pruner...full charge never used....any Ideas...and where do they get 30' from? ..

No worries about compatibility with Makita batteries. The batteries included in the bundle are serviceable, hold a decent charge by volume and are relatively light weight, which could be important if tool weight is critical. There is a learning curve with the trigger when using in either mode- handheld or on the extension pole. (I would share the trick with you but so far all I've been doing is click and click-click & click-click-click until it closes.) Discovered that the four green lights on the unit with the on-off button are the degree of jaw opening because if you're cutting small diameter branches you don't need wide opening jaws, & this will conserve power/battery life. Over all, if you need a pruner nothing else will work as well, not saws, hedge trimmers, chainsaw so add these to your arsenal. Two extension segments can be used to get you right down to ground level, without bending over. I've been attacking mature (thick) Yerba Santa and the entrenched, woody stemmed poison oak that defeat my Makita shaft compatible hedge trimmer and defy a sweeping chainsaw. Also good for the suckers of plumb trees or Crape Myrtles, et cetera. Gets 'em low to the ground. DOUG out

The durability is questionable for professional use. I am an Arborist and I love the tool but so far I have noticed that after a few months of use they started showing problems. The plastic is not Makita quality by far. With the long extension, the bottom of the pruner that connects with the pole broke due to the tension. So it had to become my hand tool only and I bought another one to use with the pole. Look at my video and you will see another issue I have had with these.

great tool should have had years ago

This tool was great for pruning trees. My father in law has an orchard so we wanted to try and make his work easier. It was perfect length for him to not have to get on a ladder.

It is a tool I should have ordered a long time ago! Now I do not have to climb up a ladder, pull down the branch I want to cut with a broom, and cut it with a pair of shears, all the time worrying that I might lose my balance. Neither do I have to put undue pressure on my shears to cut thicker branches anymore. The tool comes with 2 Makita compatible batteries which does not seem to quit even after repetitive uses. The only complaint, if this is considered ad one, is that when trying to disassemble the pole sections, I have to use a wooden mallet. The pole sections are easy to put together, but not so on detaching them. This actually can be an asset, or else the extended pole will be too wobbly to use. If all extensions are connected, the whole contraption can be on the heavy side to manipulate. Now I do not have to pull on the Wisteria climbing on my pear tree. I can cut the vine all the way up! Highly recommended!!!

These work surprising well. I have a hazelnut orchard and every year must cut suckers off the base of the tree. I used to use Felco hand powered shears but these really save on the muscles. I get around 1500 cuts per battery (it comes with two). Surprising powerful- will cut through a 1 inch branch easily. Be careful where you put your fingers! It comes with a set of spare blades too. The extension didn't seem to work when I first tried it but I have a pole saw so didn't really need his function and didn't try to make it work.

I waited till I had these for a little while before doing the review. These are a really cool little “toy“ lol all my neighbours have borrowed it. Great for pruning if you’ve got arthritis and even if you don’t. Haven’t used the pole as much, but the actual tool is great. We took some branches down from a tree, and use this tool to cut off all the small stuff and put in a yard waste bag. A lot easier than having to bundle large sticks. I would totally recommend this. The only reason I didn’t give it. Five stars is because I wish it was just a tad bit stronger. There were a couple of branches, a little bigger than I should’ve been trying to cut, but I still used them a few times and leaned on the branch and got it to snap.
