2-in-1 Phillips/Slotted (Flathead) Adjustable-Length Screwdriver - desertcart.com Review: Product Fell Apart - Here are the "good" and "bad" on this product. . . ADVANTAGES . 1. VERSATILITY: The concept is ingenious. The screw shaft is adjustable in length. The spring loaded collar locks the 7" bit on marked indentations. . One end is a Philips tip and the other end is a regular slotted screw tip. The changeover is simple. Just press the spring loaded collar, take out the shaft, flip it 180 degrees, insert the shaft into the plastic body. . 2. VALUE: At $4.49, that is a steal! The only counterparts are the $20.60 KLEINE and the stubby KUTIR adjustable screw drivers. The latter is sold in a set of two for $8.13. I highly recommend the latter to compliment this product. . 3. CUSHIONING: The plastic body is soft for comfort, and numerous pin holes provide a good grip. . . DISADVANTAGES . 1. LIMITED USAGE: The product comes with one size screw tip - the most common. The manufacturer needs to provide a 32-piece bit set, that covers the universe of sizes and shapes. . 2. CHEAP LOCK MECHANISM: The 7" screw/phillips bit is locked into the plastic handle by a two piece dull metal collar. The two are made of cheap stamp steel and spot welded together. The quality of the welding is poor. . . . A forged one piece unit would be better. . 3. When the 7" bit is locked into the plastic handle, it is too loose for me - there is too much "play." The solution is to have a tiny spring loaded ball bearing in the locking collar. The pressure will eliminate the wobbling. . . -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------. . UPDATE: After light usage, the product fell apart. The collar mechanism came off, and everything inside fell out. Repair was impossible. As a result, it went into the garbage. Review: Works Great! - Great screw driver! Exactly what I needed. And you can even remove the shaft to use as a flat head/Phillips head extension for power drill. Pretty slick!
