Garbage “Techstream” Cable That Isn’t Even a Techstream Cable
I bought this cable expecting a functional Toyota Techstream interface, and what I received was nothing more than a cheap FTDI USB-to-serial adapter dressed up to look like an MVCI diagnostic tool. It does not contain the hardware required for Toyota diagnostics, it does not support J2534 PassThru, and it does not work with Techstream under any circumstances. Look at my attached photos of the pcb inside they dont match the photos in the product listing. ✅ The Core Problem: Wrong Hardware A real Toyota/Mini-VCI cable reports hardware IDs like: VID_0451 / PID_0660 or VID_076D / PID_0003 Those are actual Denso/Jungo-based MVCI devices, with CAN transceivers and K-line interfaces built in. This cable reports: VID_0403, PID_6001 – FTDI FT232R That means it is literally a generic FTDI serial adapter, the same thing you would use to program an Arduino or talk to a serial console. It has: No CAN bus interface No J2534 capability No MVCI firmware No Denso or Jungo Windriver support No ability to communicate with any Toyota module This is like buying a “scan tool” and receiving a printer cable. ✅ The Drivers Tell the Story The included drivers appear to be for a real MVCI cable, but the hardware itself is not. The INF references Windrvr6.sys and a Denso Techstream-VIM interface, but the USB device connected to the computer is something entirely different. Windows installs the FTDI driver, the device shows up as a COM port, and Techstream never recognizes it because it’s not a J2534 device at all. ✅ Completely Misrepresented Product The seller markets this as a Techstream cable, but it cannot possibly function as one. This is misleading at best and outright fraudulent at worst. It’s equivalent to selling a steering wheel and calling it a full car. ✅ Bottom Line This cable is useless for Techstream. It cannot be patched, modified, or fixed with driver edits because the underlying hardware is wrong. You might as well try plugging in a mouse and expecting it to connect to your ECU. If you need real Toyota diagnostics, skip this junk and buy an actual Mini-VCI J2534 cable or a VCX Nano.

I hooked it up with a Win XP. You have to follow direction how to install drivers. Make sure you grab the correct version from the USB drive/mini cd. I was able to connect without isses

Complete garbage. Spent hours troubleshooting, totally useless!
Do not waste your money and time on this junk. I spent half a day trying to get this Mini-VCI cable to work on my laptop. The software disc that came with it is absolutely useless—half of the folders are completely empty, and the files are corrupted. The program constantly locks up, requires online activation codes that wasn't provided, and refuses to recognize the cable drivers on modern Windows. This is not "plug and play" at all. It is a defective product with terrible software. Returning it immediately. Avoid this seller!

Basic OBD2 Scanner, nothing specific to vechiles.
An ok scanner for basic diagnostic. Many of the functionality in the software didn't work with this OBD2 Scanner.
