Product is subdivided into five smaller tins
I was sort of expecting one large 2.5-oz tin, mostly because that's how I've seen it packaged in the past. (Actually, 2.5oz is the larger of the two sizes I've seen in the past.) What I received is five tins, each labeled (on the underside) 50g. I asked Google, which says 50g is (very slightly more than) half an ounce, so the total amount of product is correct. The small size of the tins isn't a problem or anything -- they're still plenty large enough to accommodate any shoe-polish applicator brush I've ever seen. The mechanism for opening the tins is also different from what is shown in the picture. The product photo shows one of those twisty things (kind of like a wingnut) that forces the lid off when turned. The tins I received instead have a 'press here' spot at one edge of the tin, which when pressed causes the other side of the lid to pop off. As near as I can tell, this difference is not important: either way, the tin opens pretty easily. I chose free shipping, and it took a couple of weeks to get here. (This is ok. I chose free shipping because I wasn't in a big hurry. Shoe polish isn't usually one of those things you absolutely have to have by Tuesday.) As far as the actual product, I've used Kiwi shoe polish for decades, and it works pretty well -- better than the dab-on liquid polishes I've tried. It doesn't work miracles if you've let the shoes go without polish for so long that the leather is damaged, but if you apply fresh polish before it gets that bad, let it sit for a couple of minutes, and then buff them, the shoes look good again. It only takes a few minutes to do, which is a lot better than buying new shoes.

Still excellent after all these years . . .
Back in the sixties I worked in a shoe repair shop all through high school. Kiwi is all we used even though we tried a number of other things various vendors wanted us to try. It's one of the few products I can think of that the maker hasn't screwed up by "improving it". Kiwi is never waxy, works into the leather very well, protects the leather like polish should, has just the right amount of color to cover little scuffs and nicks, and buffs out to a brilliant shine. You either like leather shoes and a real shoe shine or you don't I guess, but if you want your leather shoes to last and look good Kiwi is the way to go. Even on ladies shoes it's better than a lot of the cremes but unfortunately, it doesn't come in all the colors you need for ladies shoes. Kiwi neutral, though, will even shape up some pretty dingy ladies shoes if they're saddle soaped first and not scuffed up enough to require a bit or color to restore the scuffs. Ladies, skip the brush and buff your shoes out with clean washcloth first and a soft piece of cotton to finish. Brushes retain a bit of color so while you could use a new or newly cleaned brush, you're better off to use a washcloth with that "nap" most of them have as your first pass. Well, ok, too much you didn't want to know, right?
