Awesome coffee maker, Wish I had know about these years ago!
This coffee maker is absolutely fantastic! brews very fast and gives you instant hot water. I got mine on Amazon "used"for half price.... it was returned most likely by someone who just does not understand how this unit works and was too lazy to take a couple minutes to figure it out.they do work a little different than a regular coffee maker. you leave the heating element on all the time, it keeps the water hot just like a hot water heater does, and no it does not effect your electric bill, I have seen people giving negative reviews on it for needing to be on all the time and just assuming this will "run up your electric bill": not true at all, you are keeping a small amount of water warm all the time so it takes less time to get it HOT when it is time to brew coffee. this is no different than how a Kureg works as far as that is concerned and everyone seems to be ok with those wasteful pieces of garbage.., those also keep water hot all the time inside...since it is well insulated it doesn't run much to keep it this way. anyway , just addressing that because it seem to be the biggest thing people do not understand /can not wrap their tiny little brains around. I like this coffee maker for its appearance, how fast it brews coffee (like 3 or 4 minutes max) for how good the coffee is since it is brewed with the proper hot temps required for a good brew and for the fact I can get hot water instantly , I also like how nicely the carafe pours, no spills. if you are too lazy to watch a 2 minute video or read up on how these work then you shouldn't bother buying it because you will probably be one of the I*Diots to return it when nothing is wrong at all you just don't know how to use it. It was a score for me though I feel bad for BUNN to have to deal with returns from I*diots who cant be bothered to read or watch a 2 minute video so as to understand the very simple but different way this coffee maker works vs all others. very simply put 1)it stays on all the time 2)when you pour water in the top whatever amount you pour in will be the same amount to come out into the pot (but already hot) 3)leave the lid up until you have the carafe back in place so you dont start brewing onto the hot plate because it will begin pouring coffee instantly as soon as you put the lid down. as far as people claiming that coffee grounds get all over ...I dont know what that is all about because I have not had that issue. use the filters designed for the BUNN coffee maker and you will not have a problem. I have heard that there is an optional dispenser head you can get if you brew really fine coffee and BUNN supplies it free of charge if you just ask for it. but yeah this has not been a problem for me.

**UPDATE: Smell DOES disappate, worth the wait.**
Updated review, now 5 stars and would give more if I could: The metallic/burning plastic smell from the liner of the water tank did indeed disappate completeley after about 3.5 weeks (longer than Bunn's claimed 1-2 weeks) and we are so glad we stuck with it. Seriously if the thing broke today, I'd pay for same day delivery, instant replacement. Coffee is *perfect* every single time without exception. Flavored, unflavored, regular, decaf...it matters not. Consistent, hot, delicious and done in 2 minutes flat. The other issue with the grounds spewing everywhere was fixed by a promt, free package from Bunn supplying different water flow restrictor sprayheads to pop in. Issue has never recurred. Problem solved. We've had it for 2 years now and haven't really ever done a deep clean on it. We only put filtered water in so build-up is minimal. At first we thought it might be scary having an appliance that is "on" and warm all the time, but it isn't. You shut the whole thing down if you're going to be gone for more than 48 hours. The fun part is trying to remember to turn it back on when you return from vacation...it does take several hours to fully warm back up so you're in for a sad surprise in the morning if you forget. We can't live without it. _____________________ Previous review: Bottom line: I'd give it five stars for the quality and consistency of the coffee it brews but the smell people are complaining about? Yeah, that's real and it is a real problem. But I can only give it three because we are among the unfortunate buyers experiencing the powerful metallic (some call it burning plastic which I understand) smell that has radiated from the stainless steel water tank since the day we set it up three and a half weeks ago. The smell was nauseating at first and headache-inducing. Bunn assures that it goes away after a week or two. It has not. It has dissipated over time, though not to our satisfaction. You can read other reviews about the nature of the smell (an epoxy lining of the water tank that needs to seal before the smell goes away) which is why running vinegar through it does not help...I don't think it is *in* the water tank itself or touching the water, but rather within the lining of the tank. We also experienced the issue with the water and grounds overflowing the first pot we made as so many 1 and 2-star reviewers have noted. It was literally a hot mess that took too long to clean up and was a very disheartening first go with an expensive coffee maker. We ordered the free alternative spray head from Bunn which arrived promptly and solved that problem. (Note: that issue is caused by too-fine coffee grounds/decaf which I assume is because decaf is generally more finely ground than regular coffee. My husband can't have caffeine so we primarily brew decaf). I can't believe we have stuck with it this long, honestly. For the money we spent we would expect perfection from any other product and an industry leader like Bunn should be ashamed of themselves for a sub-par product. Sadly we've now been seduced by the quality and the *consistency* of the coffee it brews each & every time after years of Mr. Coffee makers which make a great pot one day, an awful one the next. We've decided to stick with it and see if the smell truly does go away over time because not enough people have hung in there longer than two weeks to testify to its disappearance. So we're doing it for you--ha ha. We'll keep you posted on the dissipation (or not) of the smell.

Excellent Brewer for the Price + USA Built
I bought this unit being very skeptical. It was either this, or a VPS Commercial unit. I make about 2 to 3 pots of coffee per day, so it does get a workout. I've had it for a couple weeks now, and I could not be happier. I use BUNN filters and my BUNN 48 OZ water pitcher, and it works great. While I was waiting for it to ship, I contacted BUNN and I had them send me the flow restriction nozzle adapter in fear of the grounds over flowing from the filter. The first time I tried it, I was using regular coffee grounds and it worked fine. The next shot I brewed was decaf, and to my surprise it worked just fine! It's amazing how fast this unit brews! It's amazing. It's faster than a Keurig filling my travel coffee mug that is around 24 oz at about 1:45 seconds. Not to mention it brews a whole decanter in less than 3 minutes. It's slick!!! I tried the flow restriction nozzle adapter, and it turns the brew process from 3 minutes into around 6 minutes. It appears as if it slows the brew rate to half the flow of water out of the unit. Although, I've never had an issue with it overflowing coffee grounds out of the unit. I can see how high the water level gets, but there is still room. Not sure if users are simply overloading it with grounds or what. The unit does it's fast brew by keeping at least 1.5 decanters worth water hot all the time. Some might say it's a waste of electricity... I don't think it is, especially for how much I use it. So it's not much of a concern. Though if you do turn it off, it's not advisable to use it for 15 to 20 minutes as it reheats the water (probably wasting more energy than just leaving it on). The only time I turn it off is if I'm heading out on a long vacation. Other than that, the water is in there and never really noticeably changes. Did I also mention it's made in the USA? Yes, it's made in the good ol'e USA. One of the few items that you can get that is American made. Overall, this unit is amazing and I recommend it to anyone looking for a great, dependable, and fast brewer!

Fast, Hot, and Reliable — Coffee Like a Pro!
I’ve had this BUNN BX Speed Brew for a few months now and it lives up to the hype. Coffee is ready in about 3 minutes, and it’s hot — not lukewarm like with cheaper machines. The flavor is rich, smooth, and consistent every time. It does take a little more counter space and uses a unique filter, but totally worth it if you drink coffee daily (or hourly like me). Setup was easy, and I love the retro yet professional look. It feels like something you’d see in a diner. The tank stays hot, so it’s always ready to brew, which is super convenient during busy mornings. Overall, if you’re a serious coffee drinker and want speed without sacrificing taste, this brewer’s a winner.

Great quality. Water always hot and ready to brew
Love the Bunn coffee pot. Have had two prior and they last for many years. Great that the water is always hot and ready. Quick, great tasting coffee.

I love this coffee maker!
If you're a person who does not like to read long reviews, this thing's awesome, just buy it. For everyone else who is not a millennial and has an attention span of more than a Twitter comment... Read on. I've been in business for 25 years, we're in finance and we drink a lot of coffee. Commercial offices generally have contracts with local purveyors that provide the machine for free as long as you buy cases of pre-measured coffee. Since 1997 we have had a bunn commercial three burner coffee maker. Now in fairness, even though this is made by the same company you really can't compare. The two. One is a commercial solid metal unit that is designed to run continuously. The other is a really high quality residential unit. For me, I'm a coffee fiend... I drink at least a pot or more per day myself. At home, I have a technovorem mocha master ( look it up) these things cost $400 or more and are regarded as the best coffee maker/ pour over unit in the world. I believe they've won some awards to that effect. I'm not going to buy another one of these for another room in my house, after COVID I moved my personal operation out of my office and into the house. I set up a station and was going to buy a commercial bunn machine ( single burner) and I came across this machine in the suggestions. I was extremely skeptical, I was positive I was buying a piece of junk but I've had it now for several weeks and it is nothing short of amazing. It's exactly the same functionality as the one from the office. It's very important to understand that the reason people love bunn coffee makers is because they have a very clever method of preheating water so you never really have to wait for a full pot of coffee. Basically, you get the machine and fill it with two full pots of water. The instructions say to turn the on the heating elements and wait about 15 minutes. Give it 20 just for good measure... You put your empty pot under the water outlet and closed the lid. It will drain out one full pot and leave the next one in its place to become heated and ready to serve. Here's the cool part, you never turn off the coffee maker, just the heating plate. When you're ready to make another pot, you pour cold water into the machine and immediately scolding hot water comes out from the superheated reservoir and makes your pot of coffee. The cold water you just poured in replaces the hot water and the cycle starts over again. No other coffee maker on the market does this. If you're using this in the morning before you walk out the door to go to work... This thing will blow you away. It'll make a pot of coffee in a couple of minutes versus 10 or so from some of the competitors. The best part is, like most things on Amazon, this is a prime item. If you don't like it, return it. It costs you nothing and I think you'll be thrilled. One last thought... They have this genius little invention on the lid of the coffee pot. It's a 3-in extension or so that directs the liquid when you're pouring it out into your cup. Anyone is poured coffee on the floor, on their hand, or any place other than a cup knows that it is difficult to fill your coffee cup straight from the pot. This amazing little add-on completely eliminates drips and spills. Definitely check it out

Bunns Of Stainless Steel
I will not bore you with all of the exact specifics of this coffee brewer. There are plenty of other reviews here on Amazon BUNN BX-B Classic 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer, Black or check the Bunn website for additional info here: [...] This Bunn BX-B 10-cup coffe brewer is a pricey but fantastic coffee maker for your home or small office. I bought one for my office, so that I can make myself a quick pot of coffee when I get to work or whenever someone stops by to visit my office during the day. This machine makes coffe FAST and the flavor of the coffee is always consistent. Although I have never found many of the Bunn coffee makers to be much of a fashion statement, this unit is fairly high-tech looking, with its black and stainless color combination. Since the water flows out of this unit so quickly, using a showerhead type spray pattern, I highly suggest that you always use genuine Bunn coffee filters as the store brand filters are usually not tall enough, causing the ground coffee to splash up and over the edge of the shorter filters. One noteable difference between this and most previous pour-over Bunn models is that this unit does not require the use of a seperate water pitcher. You simply fill your coffee pot with water, lift the little door on the top/front of the unit and pour your water in. The most important step is to place the coffee pot on the warmer plate, being sure to center it properly, before lowering the door on the top of the coffee maker. As soon as you lower the door the water will start to flow quickly. If you lower the door before you place the pot underneath, you will likely end up with a bit of a mess. Also, I recommend that you insert your filter and pour in your measured amount of ground coffee before pouring water into the Bunn, because even with the door up I find that some water tends to drip from the output nozzle, causing water to drip down onto the warmer plate. I fill my pot with water, set it aside while installing my filter and ground coffee, then pour in my water, center the pot on the warmer plate and then lower the door. This has produced proper function every time, without any mess to clean up. My likes and dislikes are as follows: Pros: ***** - Makes a pot of coffee in only 3 minutes or less! - Consistent coffee flavor with every pot - No need to use a seperate water pitcher as with previous Bunn models - Simplistic operation that anyone can handle - Easy to clean and maintain - Pleasing black and stainless steel design - Build quality seems to be much higher than many other coffee makers Cons: ***** - No automatic shutoff (could pose hazzard if warmer plate is left on over the weekend) - No timer feature for brewing coffee at a set time - No temperature control for the warmer plate (it gets VERY hot!) - If you don't use it for several days some of the water evaporates from the hot water tank - Must use genuine Bunn coffee filters, which are not always easy to find - Pricey for a basic coffee maker The cons are somewhat minor but the lack of an automatic shutoff really bothers me. I ended up purchasing a seperate digital appliance timer, which I plug the Bunn coffee maker into, so that I can set power on and off times. This way I don't have to worry about leaving the warmer plate turned on over night or over the weekend. Overall I am extremely happy with my Bunn BX-B coffee brewer. It is easy to use and makes a great tasting pot of coffee in just under 3 minutes. It is also a great device for producing plain hot water. If you exclude the filter and coffee this unit produces a pot of very hot water in less time than it takes to make the normal pot of coffee. This is great for making instant coffee, hot chocolate, tea, instant oatmeal, etc. The BX-B carries a pretty hefty price tag (as all Bunn models do), but it is built well and makes excellent coffee in a flash. If you believe that time is money (as I do), then the Bunn BX-B is worth every penny for all of the time you'll save. =o)

Reliable as always
Great coffee maker. Bought it for my Mom and she loves it. Unfortunately where she lives, the water is hard and has a lot of calcium deposits in it and anything involving water doesn't last long.
