Why did the device turn off by itself after a few minutes?

This is a built-in Auto-Power-Off (APO) feature designed to save battery life. The device will automatically shut down after 5 minutes of inactivity. If you are in the middle of a measurement, simply press the power button to restart.

Which types of light cannot this light meter test?

Only for visible light (CIE standard,e.g., office/home). NOT for: 1. Photography flashes (2Hz slow response). 2. LED grow lights (inaccurate for Red/Blue/PPFD; white/warm LED only). 3. Low-light/darkness (below 1.7 LUX cannot be measured).

Why are the "MAX" and "MIN" values much higher than the actual light intensity when I turn on the device?

MAX/MIN records the highest brightness measured last time, not the current value.

Even with light, the screen displays "0". Is it broken?

No. The device has a minimum sensitivity of 2.0 lux. If ambient light is below this threshold, it will display "0". For measurements under 2.0 lux, a specialized high-precision sensor is required.
