An engaging work, if a little long.
A full performance of this ambitious 60-movement work for solo viola takes somewhere in the region of 53-55 minutes. It begins with a deceptively simple "Sailor's Song" followed by "Sarah's Lullaby". Perhaps the sailor and Sarah are on a boat together. We then get whisked through several diverse scenes including a country walk, a tango, a fire dance, an afternoon at the fair, and Caribbean Swing. Sometimes the juxtapositions are too jarring, for example the transition from The Little Trumpeter at the end of the second set of pieces (known, for some reason, as Grade 7) into the slightly pompous Waltz of Shall We Dance? which begins the "Grade 8" section. With the right pauses for effect however, I believe that these awkward corners can be navigated to make a semi-coherent whole work. Personal recommendations to enhance the character of each movement would be the inclusion of a smoking break after Blues for Charlie and perhaps a cheeky Morris Dance after the movement entitled May Morning. The Lament could be performed on one's knees whilst shrouded in a cloak. My only real criticism would be that with the use of some key signatures involving up to 5 sharps and flats, some of these movements might be a little over-ambitious compared to mainstream viola repertoire, but I suppose that by having a game stab at it as well as leaping desperately up the fingerboard for the occasional almost unachievable high note it allows the most fundamental skill of viola playing to be showcased; that of being able to "blag it".

El mejor libro de escalas que existe
Es un libro excelente y si se hacen las escalas arpegios séptimas de dominante etcétera de los niveles seis a ocho se está haciendo prácticamente toda la técnica del chelo. La digitación es magnífica
