Easy to apply and great results
I switched to Simpler Hair Color last month after having ongoing problems with quality control of another brand, and I'm extremely happy with the performance of this product. Great things: - Easy to apply: I find the integrated developer dispenser and brush applicator easy to control and much less messy than glove-only application. (I still use gloved hands to make sure I've reached everywhere.) The consistency is quite thick, almost like a paste, and does not drip or splatter. - Long-lasting: When they say permanent, they mean permanent. Switching from a demi-permanent dye, I was surprised by the complete lack of fading. Only roots need re-application, so I think the cost/coverage should be similar even though I have less product than the previous dye I used. - Looks good: This is a penetrating dye and looks natural rather than like a exterior coating. Cautions: - Darker than I expected: Despite equivalent color names, this came out a touch more saturated than my previous product (or perhaps this is just the lack of wash fading). - Somewhat harsher on the hair: You can't adjust the amount of developer used, and it definitely affects the texture of your hair. I noticed I'm more prone to knots and kinks before treatment.

An unexpectedly great alternative to the "leading brand"
Until fairly recently, I'd been a long-time user of the most well-known brand of men's hair color products (I'm sure readers know exactly which one I mean). As the years progressed, I began to read more and more accounts of allergic reactions, often quite severe, and sometimes despite (or perhaps because of?) long-term uneventful use of the product. Myself, I'd never had such an issue outright, but as time went on, use of the product began to elicit an irritated sensation and mild itchiness during and for a short while after usage. As an adult, my facial skin has tended to err on the sensitive side, and between this, the transient irritation and itching, and others' reports of intense negative reactions, I began to fear that it was just a matter of time that I'd experience a bad reaction as well. It was at this point that I began to seek out an alternative. Unfortunately, though there were a few different alternatives on the market, none of them were rated very highly by users. Eventually...though I can't remember how or when...I came across Simpler, and though reviews were not plentiful (I think the product was still relatively new and unknown at that point), they were much better than I'd seen with other alternatives to the "leading brand". After reviewing the website, I liked what I saw and was reassured as to the quality of the company and the product. The only "downside" that I could see was that I'd have to leave the product in longer in order for it to work properly. Eh. Long story short, I am now a dedicated user of Simpler, and barring some unforeseen negative turn in the company or product, I plan to remain such, so long as I have something to use their product on (i.e. hair, of course!) As a quick aside...regarding the aforementioned "downside" of needing to leave the product in longer...with a simple adjustment of routine, this has hardly been an issue at all. What I've taken to doing is to make this a pre-shower process. What I'll do is, before starting anything else, apply the product so that the "countdown" can begin. At that point, now that the product is in and doing its thing, I'll take care of other stuff like cleaning up the applicator and work area, getting the towels ready, water warmed, etc. If I worked a little fast, sometimes I'll work a puzzle or two on the phone before turning on the water. By the time all of that is done, the majority of the dyeing time needed has already elapsed. If I still need a little more time of having the product in but the shower is otherwise ready to go, I'll hop in but take care of other stuff first, leaving the head and face (and product) to wash last. So that's it. If you're at the stage I was earlier and looking for a viable alternative to the "other brand", I'd humbly suggest that Simpler is likely to be worth your time to look at and try out.

BE FOREWARNED
With an application of under 10 minutes my chin developed swelling like never before. This was a week ago. The swelling subsided and the company sent me a unit of partial coverage, which they advised was less allergenic and better tolerated by those with beard dye sensitivities. I tried the partial this morning and it affected me FAR WORSE. I really regret using this stuff. This is my face and it better be back to normal or I’m going to lose it…

EASY BUTTON
Pros: 1. Does NOT stain your skin 2. Not harsh on your hair like ammonia based hair color 3. EASY to apply 4. New colors added - love the brown black addition Cons: may not be suitable if you have stubborn grey hair (you may need the ammonia based color). I really like how easy it is to apply since that was such a hurdle for me with box color. If I just slapped it on, it would get all over my face even though I applied Vaseline generously. I also have somewhat thinning hair and it would stain my head a super dark color, so when dried, you could still see the very dark stain through my hair which looks ridiculous. If I took a long time to foil the hair, the process was so arduous, I never wanted to do it. The Simpler Hair Color goes on so easy since it’s a thick mouse texture and you can apply it in about 5 minutes. This feature alone means I can easily pop the color on, do a chore and it’s really for rinse. No skin staining and the color says in. I was my hair every two days so it does get washed frequently. They recently added more colors and I love the brown black addition. My hair also seems less dry after switching from drugstore box color. Highly recommend you try this and see if it works for your grey.

Game-Changer for My Hair Routine
I don’t usually leave reviews, but Simpler Hair Color really impressed me. As a guy who's tried several drugstore dyes over the years, this was by far the easiest and cleanest application I’ve used, no mixing bowls, no drips, no mess. The bottle design is super convenient, and I was able to use it for both my beard and hair in one go. The color came out looking natural, not too harsh or flat like some other brands. It blended my greys perfectly without making it obvious I dyed it, which is exactly what I wanted. Also, I didn’t experience any irritation or itching, something I’ve struggled with in the past using other products. Yes, it’s a bit pricier than the typical box dye, but honestly? It’s worth it for the quality and ease. I’ll definitely be sticking with Simpler going forward. Highly recommend for any guy looking for a reliable, low-hassle hair color that actually looks good.

It does the Job well.
I’ve been using this for a few years now, And I have to say that I love this product. It’s easy to use and they have the perfect amount of options for you to choose from. Do I wish the color would stay longer? Yes, But then again I have stubborn grays, and my beard is exposed to the sun due to the type of Job that I have. The company also needs to do a better job on how the bottle dispenses the product. all in all it does the job. Hope this helps some of you whom are apprehensive about purchasing this product.

Good but...
I like the product overall. It’s much less messy than similar products, and most importantly, it doesn’t leave stains on the skin. I keep about 3–4 mm of facial hair, so that makes a big difference for me. I took off one star for two reasons: It’s quite expensive. The bottle sprays two different liquids, and one bottle I received was dispensing very little of the colored liquid. That made it pretty much ineffective and felt like a waste of $50. I like the product when it works properly, but at this price, the quality control should be better.
