Best Onkyo I've had so far.
I've had this receiver since March of this year. I absolutely love this model. It does everything I need. It connects to my music server, tablet, phone, and Alexa. I had ChatGPT instruct me on how to connect my music server. That made the job easy. Now I have hundreds of digital albums to choose from. I strongly suggest setting up Dirac Live instead of AccuEQ. This receiver gives you both options. Dirac Live is a bit picky, but stick with it. It's well worth the effort. I also used ChatGPT to figure out a difficulty I was having with Dirac Live. I've not had a single issue in the 6 months I've been using the RZ50. This is my third Onkyo receiver. It's dedicated to my listening room (aka: escape room) with 9 speakers and 2 subwoofers. It's a bit of heaven on earth.

Awsome Upgrade
I upgraded from an Onkyo TX-NR-828 to the TX-RZ50 and the sound stage after running the built-in optimization has made a significant improvement to my Home Theater. Onkyo also seamlessly compensated to my Klipsch speakers for optimum sound. Love this new Amplifier and it proves tge Onkyo is back in the game!

No customer suppoprt--so far.
There is no printed manual and the PDF manual does not seem to answer all questions about operation. I have e-mailed customer support and tried contacting them through their web site but after a week there is no response. The equipment itself is very nice so far--good quality. The TX-RZ50 is supposed to come with Dirac Live for speaker and room equalization and calibration but it does not work, always presenting a network error. I have a good network that works with everything else. The Receiver is connected via Ethernet with is very robust. I cannot get an answer or response from Onkyo to help me with this problem as well as others. By the way, the banana plugs supplied free with the unit are pretty much useless.

stopped sending audio or video less than 2 years in
Didn't even last 2 years before it stopped sending an audio or video signal. Now have to jump through all the hoops to send in to a service center and hopefully get it fixed. Will not buy another Onkyo receiver. Pioneer one did the exact same thing after 4 years. and Zero help from Adorama. won't purchase from them again either.

The Most Feature Packed, Future Proof AVR For Under $1000.00
There is literally no other AVR on the market today that offers the total amount of features and the Watts per channel that this Onkyo RZ50 does. Dirac Live ( full spectrum ) alone would cost almost $400.00 bought separately. How Onkyo can offer this at such an unbelievable price befuddles me - and as a former Denon and Harman Kardan owner, I can say with full authority no other manufacturer packs in so much - THX certified, IMAX enhanced, all HDMI inputs on the back are 8K / 60 - 4K / 120 Hz capable, VRR, ALLM, QFT, the list is endless. And I couldn't ask for more.

Good unit in it's price range
If you need a receiver in this price range which has preamp connections, this is pretty much the only choice. It's a good unit with clear sound and decent features. The included Direc room equalization is the standout feature. The Dirac feature works audibly better than the various other systems for room equalization. The. downside of the unit is the clumsy interface. In order to access all the features and settings you must use the settings menu, the "quick menu" and their cell phone app (required to use the Dirac system.) Adequate, but awkward. Even then, some desirable features are missing. If you have two subwoofers, the is no way to balance them. My older Denon unit had that. Also there doesn't seem to be any way to set what input the unit will use when first turned on. Mine always defaults to the streaming box. No mention of how to set this in the manual or after searching every menu. Doing an Internet search, you find a solution which doesn't work. I'm guessing a previous software version supported this, but not the latest one. Overall a good unit in it's price range, but if I didn't need the separate preamp outputs for my front channels, I think the comparable Denon unit would be the better choice, but Dirac is an extra/ addon cost for that.
