I use this CERA+ portable espresso maker multiple times a week at lunch for espresso or Americanos, and I recently relied on it during a trip as my primary espresso machine for making lattes. Overall, it performed extremely well and exceeded what I expected from a portable unit. What stands out most is that it allows for a true espresso-style extraction. The basket is well designed and consistently produces solid shots once dialed in. Most of the external components are metal, which gives the machine a high-quality, durable feel. While I assume there are internal plastic components, nothing about the build feels cheap. The self-heating function works reliably and doesn’t take long to bring water up to temperature. If you start with hot water and skip the heating cycle, you can pull a surprisingly high number of shots on a single charge. There is some learning curve involved. It can take a bit of trial and error to dial in a good shot, which is expected with espresso in general but worth noting for anyone new to the process. After a few months of moderate use, I’ve also noticed a faint clicking sound when extraction begins. At this point, I’m not sure whether that’s normal or something developing over time. It hasn’t affected performance, but it’s something I’m keeping an eye on. Battery drain is noticeably higher when using the heating feature, which is expected given the power required. Despite those points, the overall performance and convenience are impressive enough that I still rate this 5 stars. It delivers real espresso in situations where that normally wouldn’t be possible. This is an excellent option for travel, work, or anywhere you don’t have access to quality coffee equipment. Paired with the CERA+ portable grinder, it makes a very capable on-the-go espresso setup.

I am finding that this portable espresso machine is a mixed bag. The machine itself appears to be well made with high quality materials. It has some heft to it, and I really like the fact that they take your health into consideration and use stainless steel for the heating chamber, and a ceramic heater. I have no worries about aluminum or dangerous compounds in the plastic getting into my brew. That being said, I think I’ve pulled the worst espresso shots I’ve ever had. I used and did exactly what I do with my DeLonghi machine, which pulls some lovely shots (beautiful crema), whereas the first I pulled with this had non and some kind of slight oil slick on top of it (tasted chemically, so I am wondering if, even though I ran water through a couple of times, it was the newness of the machine), and the second, done exactly like I would do a double shot - 30 lbs of pressure, etc, and only a slight amount of crema with the strongest tasting espresso ever. Way too strong and bitter. I was going to say it doesn’t get hot enough - the first try was just slightly above warm, the second much better (still tasted horrible), but then I read the maximum temperature and the fact that it does better if you add boiling water for a hotter cup. Doing that makes it much less convenient. I have made probably 100 shots or so with my DeLongi - maybe more (I’ve only had it for maybe a year) and have barista’d professionally so I do know what I am doing. And I know each machine has a learning curve, as well as the fact that one can always learn more, but, I am not a beginner. I have experience. I will continue to play with this when I have the time, but so far, it is producing something I do not enjoy. I don’t use pods, but this was so strong that it was beyond bitter. I used the same bottled water, and ground it myself to the same grind I do with my home machine. So for me, while the machine itself is impressive, the espresso it produces is not.

I'll start by saying this: this is a pro-level portable espresso machine. If you're serious about espresso, using fresh beans, a quality grinder, and solid prep techniques are essential, as this isn't a pod machine. Given all that, this is hands down the best portable espresso maker out there. Outin might be more popular, but if you know what you're doing, this machine pulls a better shot. I have an Ascaso at home, so I wanted a portable that could come close to that quality. My must-haves were: - Stainless steel group head - Bottomless portafilter to check extraction - Standard basket size for accessory compatibility - Pre-infusion (a rare feature for portables but a big plus!) - Battery-operated and ideally with a water heater The stainless steel group head alone ruled out almost every other option. The CERA+ PRO met all my needs, so I bought it, and I'm impressed. The extraction is smooth, and the shots are spot-on. A few tweaks could make it perfect: - A stand for easier inspection and stability post-extraction - An 18g basket option (it comes with a 20g, which works, but a smaller one would be ideal) - A carrying case, as the box isn't ideal for travel Overall, if espresso quality matters to you, this is the best portable machine on the market right now. It doesn't disappoint!

So disappointed. Does anyone else have all these concerns????? I’m sending this machine back, hoping I was sent a lemon!! Might try to have it replaced??? 20 grams of extra fine coffee which Cera recommends , will not fit into the coffee area. I cannot twist the bottom on when I try to use 20 grams. So I try with 15-16 grams. Second- my machine extracts about half of the water, so I double click it 2-3 more times to get all the 70 ml of water out of the water area. Thirdly, the temperature of the extracted espresso- even when I start with hot water, comes out at 97 degrees F to 127. I like hot coffee, this is barely warm. My fourth concern is I never get any crème- not a drop from the extraction. My fifth issue, when I tried 80ml hot water, the steam popped off the top lid when heating up. With this many issues, I better look at another brand.

Amazing coffee. I have a Jura home coffee maker and I would put this coffee up against my Jura any day.

My wife and I are coffee/tea enthusiasts. We make it a point to only have high quality recently roasted coffee beans that we grind ourselves, premium loose leaf tea, etc. And we use fairly expensive/high end coffee/espresso machines, grinders, etc. because it is something we're passionate about. I bring that up because I had really high expectations out of this portable espresso maker. My intention was to take this with us when we go on morning hikes. I tried this at home a few times, and I feel like I wasn't getting great pulls of Espresso. The flavor and consistency wasn't comparable to what I get with my Breville at home. It was drinkable, but didn't taste great in our opinion. The thing is I'm a fairly good barista at home, so unless I was completely missing something I don't know why I wasn't able to get as good of a cup of espresso out of this. It just felt difficult to use, and at the end of the day pretty expensive as it is currently listed for over $150. Overall I currently feel underwhelmed and not really happy with this, and I wouldn't recommend it. I'll try to revisit it in the future to see if I can get a better result. But for now 2.5 out of 5 and rounding down. Not recommended.

Let me start by saying that your espresso will only be as good as the quality of your espresso beans, the grind setting and water quality. It is a great machine, but it can't fix bad coffee! If you are going to spend the cash buying the best equipment, then also buy good coffee and invest in a ood burr grinder. Yes this machine is a bit more expensive then others, but the price is totally worthwhile for the quality you get. It has 20 bars of pressure! This is better than some full size espresso maker. All parts are well made, stylish and durable. I love that it comes with a little plastic cup. This way you can brew directly in the cup and you don't have to keep holding it while it brews. NO, it doesn't come with a coffee pod adaptor, but if you know anything about espresso, you will understand that it is impossible to make a descent cup of espresso with the amount of coffee contained in the standard pods. This is a PRO machine. If you are into watered down coffee made from pods, this machine is NOT for you. Long story short, I love it. It does what is advertised and it does it explendid well. It looks great, makes great tasting espresso, it's easy to operate and to clean. I'm happy with it, I can have great coffee anywhere. It is totally worth every penny.
