Olympus PEN E-PL7 Interchangeable Lens Camera - White (16.1MP) 3.0 inch Touchscreen LCD

Fantastic camera, the meter is superb delivering perfectly exposed shots every time. Working without a viewfinder is taking some getting used to, particularly in strong light, but results have still been good. I will probably buy the optional VF-4 viewfinder which fits in the flash hotshoe, as I prefer to shoot with available light with a fast lens and high ISO. Features and buttons are highly customisable - and best of all, it's so small and light! A capable replacement for the bulkier DLSR.

My main camera is an OM-D E-M1 and this compliments it perfectly as a light weight alternative when I don't need the features or viewfinder of the E-M1. It's a great little camera. It's best feature is being able to touch the screed where you want it to focus and take the photograph, it means you can put a fast lens on it, set it on auto ISO and give it to others to take photos without worrying about having to explain how to use it.

It was great for the price and for the quality it came in. Definitely worth it if you are starting the micro4/3 world.

What a gem! Beautifully made, and once you have set it up so that you can access the 'Super Control Panel' it becomes an OM-D, just without the viewfinder. In fact it is more capable than my EM5 in several respects. It does take a little while to stop yourself lifting the camera to your eye if you're used to a DSLR of any sort, and the screen can be difficult to see in very bright conditions so you must adapt to this, or buy an EVF to fit (can't afford this just yet!) I bought this as a backup to an Olympus OM-D E-M1 (do these designations actually make sense in Japanese?). The EM1 and this camera share lenses, but not much else. The EM1 is quite a complicated camera, with far more functions than it really needs, but it does have the basic functions all to hand. This less complicated camera also has plenty of functions, but less easy to get to. I may be wrong, but I see no way, for instance, to change the "film-speed", other than by scrolling through the menu. Olympus cameras are vastly customisable, so I expect there is a way to set something up to change "film-speed" a lot more conveniently, but the information provided, which ought to explain all that stuff, is also a problem; in fact, it's rubbish. There are good YouTube lectures out there, admirably presented by dedicated users, but Olympus should be providing that sort of thing. When it comes to the actual pictures, we're getting to the "bad workman..." end of things and I don't claim to be a great photographer, just a fairly experienced one. I get a persistent yellow cast on photographs taken in low-light, flash-forbidden locations, which would include any great museum that permits photography. The camera menu includes options to tailor the hue, but that doesn't seem to make any difference. In any case, why should I adjust my view of the world, just because my camera insists everything is banana-coloured? I spent a number of days in Paris and took this camera to the Louvre one day. Partly because the Louvre is so vast, but also partly because I was so disappointed with my photographs, I went back the next day, with my EM1, and got far better pictures, in identical conditions. This has no viewfinder, so it has the problem every compact (what this is, expensively) has: you're supposed to take the photo with a screen which is blank in bright sunlight. To be fair, the screen is better quality than most, being pretty big and, in the right conditions, clear. I prefer something with a viewfinder, even if it's only the electronic variety, found in this camera's big brothers. Right now, I'd recommend the EM-5 Mk II. It's twice as expensive, but at least twenty times as good.

I am not a professional photographer. I'm just a traveler who loves taking photos and I do take a lot of it. My previous camera was Olympus Pen E-PL2 which is still good, but mostly used by my father. So I decided to buy this new one for my own, and was not disappointed at all! :)) Compact size with great picture quality as usual (or even better). Love the new design and colour. Perfect!

Great camara would have been good if it had a SD card at the price of it . Was present for my daughter for Christmas and couldn't use it on Christmas morning.

Beautiful, light and so advanced - I love it. The pictures are clear and there are loads of fun shots and more adventurous if you want to learn more. If you want there are some very handy hints the come on at the back when you change from Auto to Art, and other settings. This isn't just for beginners but handy if you are just wanting an alternative to an SLR with it's weight.

Man verzeihe mir die sexistische Überschrift, sie ist meiner Begeisterung geschuldet. Ich werde im Wesentlichen die Ergonomie der Kamera besprechen. Mädchenknipse: Die PL7 ist fast schon kompakt zu nennen, die Knöpfe auf der Rückseite sind sehr zierlich, die Griffwulst verdient ihre Bezeichnung nicht. Wer große Pranken und/oder Wurstfinger sein Eigen nennt wird hier Schwierigkeiten bekommen. Das wars aber auch schon an Kritik, vom traditionell fehlenden Papiermanual abgesehen. ... für Selfmademen: Die Kamera läßt selbst für mich verwöhnten Pinsel keine Wünsche offen. Effekte und Szenenmodi sind mir egal, ich benutze nur M (manuell) und A (Blendenvorwahl). Es empfiehlt sich ein Blick ins PDF-Handbuch, damit der Monitor bei "M" auch anzeigt, was man eingestellt hat (LV-Prio AUS) Hat man die Kamera einigermaßen eingerichtet kanns losgehen. Ich hatte vorher die PL1 nebst Aufstecksucher VF-2, der auch zur PL7 kompatibel ist. Er empfiehlt sich trotz des neigbaren Monitors bei sehr heller Sonne. Die PL7 bedient ich sehr angenehm, Überläufer von Canon etc. sollten mit einer Umgewöhungsphase rechnen. Ein nützliches Feature ist die 2-achsige Wasserwaage, die auslaufende Seen oder einstürzende Neubauten verhindert. Auch der Stabi erweist sich bei schlechten Lichtverhältnissen als sehr nützlich. Für Leute, die es gern halbautomatisch haben ("A") empfiehlt es sich, die Belichtungsspeicherung auf eine Funktionetase zu legen. Mit der elektronischen Lupe wird auch manuelles Scharfstellen mit einiger Übung zum Genuß. Zur Bildqualität kann ich nur sagen: Es liegt am Nutzer, wie er sich anstellt und was für Objektive er aufschraubt. Durch die zierlichen Abmaße kann ich in einer Fototasche die Kamera, den Aufstecksucher und 3 Objektive mitführen, ohne daß es sonderlich aufträgt. Im Urlaub, speziell in den Bergen wird man das würdigen wissen. Die WLAN - Funktion empfinde ich als sinnlos und dem Zeitgeist geschuldet, zumal ich erst eine App aufs Quarkphone laden müßte. Und wenn Ihnen die Motive wirklich mal ausgehen sollten, machen Sie halt Selfies. Schließlich wird die PL7 ja gerade dafür beworben ;-)

J'avais lu que la prise en main allait être un peu compliquée mais finalement je la trouve plus simple que sur mon reflex (canon). Léger, bonne ergonomie,... Je trouve peut-être l'objectif de base assez gros. Et quelques fonctionnalités inutiles (création de cadres, etc), on voit que le public cible est plutôt féminin 20-30 ans. Bon à savoir : Olympus a des fichiers RAW "maison" : des ORF. Du coup, pas possible de les lire avec Photoshop ou Lightroom. Jpeg disponible est donc pas de problème avec ceux-ci.

Mittlerweile seit 3 Jahren in der Nutzung. Bin soweit sehr zufrieden und habe mir auch schon verschiedene Linsenergänzungen dafür gekauft! Kompakt, leicht und schönes Design.

Llevaba tiempo queriendo comprarme una cámara EVIL y tras leer muchas reseñas me decidí por la Olympus E-PL7. El precio en Amazon era mejor que el de la web oficial de Olympus, así que la compré por aquí. Tenía prisa porque quería llevármela a un viaje así que pedí el envío exprés de 1 día y no se retrasó ni un minuto. El pack viene con todo lo que especifica, así que ninguna sorpresa sobre eso. No trae tarjeta de memoria, lo que es una desventaja, pero ya era consciente de que no vendría en el pack cuando la compré. Estoy muy contenta con la calidad de la cámara. No la considero una cámara de uso profesional porque tiene sus limitaciones pero da muy buenos resultados, creo que es perfecta para gente interesada en la fotografía pero sin mucha experiencia (como yo), y sobre todo ofrece muchas facilidades para compartir las imágenes con otros dispositivos mediante wi-fi, lo que es genial si quieres usar las fotos para tu blog o Instagram. Y por supuesto, sobra decir que es una belleza de cámara.
