How to Find Out Anything: From Extreme Google Searches to Scouring Government Documents, a Guide to Uncovering Anything About Everyone and Everything [Don MacLeod] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. How to Find Out Anything: From Extreme Google Searches to Scouring Government Documents, a Guide to Uncovering Anything About Everyone and Everything Review: This is a great book and will help you at any level of finding information - Although some of the research resources toward the end were a bit daunting to me, the emphasis on libraries, and how to find things there were very helpful. It was very empowering to know how much information was out there even without the deep web. However, I've become more motivated to explore the deep web too. Review: very useful - good investment! - If you need to search for information frequently, this book will pay for itself just for the chapter on "googling" effectively. Of course, everything you find here you can find on the internet- but here you get everything in one neat bundle. After (and during) reading this book, I found a lot more information on how to get information, and this has helped tremendously not just with my projects, but also with my daughter's schoolwork. She is also becoming quite proficient in her searches.

Extremely helpful and relevant book even in 2021
I am a consultant assigned to a nonprofit. Within 30 minutes of opening this book, I was reading their annual form 990 and had a much clearer picture of their revenue sources and priorities. This book is incredibly helpful guide to doing research and in formulating your research goals.

Build your research library
This book is really informative with an interesting approach. It focuses on building your resource library so when you go to research/investigate a topic, all the shortcuts are at your fingertips. I am a trained paralegal and I found this book resourceful.

Good book but some online resources can't be found
This book does a decent job of giving you directions on where to look - sources for both online and offline, if you are not very clear how to do research. In the way it was structured, it is helpful. I gave it four stars because my focus was on Internet research and so I was quite dismayed to find that the various sources stated in the book for Online Research led to some dead links or to sources that had ceased operations. I did not try out the sources for the offline suggestions so can't comment on that.

Terrific book.
This is a great reference for investigators of all experience levels. For its size and price it is packed with useful sources. Internet tools and sources change rapidly so any publication, regardless of size is quickly obsolete. I have purchased other resources, and have spent years compiling my own list of useful sites. This book is more than just a list, it includes tips on making the best use of the tools it contains.

Estilo llano, con muchos ejemplos. Mejor que la mayoría de su género. Adecuado en extensión, formato y contenido. Muy recomendable.

An interesting and informative read; How to Find Out Anything is well-researched (duh!) and the information is presented in a commonsense and straight-forward manner. Macleod's prose is effective and clear. Though he does get a little repetitive in some parts. The level of information in this book falls between beginner - intermediate researcher skill. It goes well beyond the ubiquitous Googling of the internet age (though he does cover the less-well-known tips and tricks of effective online search engine use), and begins to delve into the timeless art of library and archive based research.
