My son loves playing chess, and this set is perfect for him. The small size makes it easy to carry around, and the magnetic pieces stay in place while playing. Great for travel and home use.

My family loves games. I use them to keep my four sons calm on long car rides or while waiting at appointments or in restaurants. This chess set is perfect for us because it fits nicely in my purse, and the magnets mean we don’t accidentally knock the board over (because we’re a clumsy lot). The board and pieces are well made, and the board folds to store the pieces inside it. And, it snaps shut so the pieces don’t go flying all over the place. We will be recommending to all our chess loving friends!

I’m learning to play chess via an app and wanted a small board that I could physically play on. I wasn’t looking for fancy, just small. After reading reviews and looking at pictures of many travel sized boards, I settled on this one. It has magnetic pieces, folds up to be pocket sized, and feels pretty well made for what it is. The price was good as well. I like that on the box it’s got how each piece moves and has a little paper inside as well. That’s something I’m still trying to remember and having it on hand is convenient. I cut the picture off the box to keep with the board. The pieces move easily and stay on the board pretty well. The magnets are strong enough to keep them where you want them, but not so strong you struggle to move them. Maybe one day I’ll get a fancy board I can leave out all the time, but until then, this one is perfect for what I was looking for. It’s compact, easy to carry and store, and I look forward to playing on it.

I bought the extra small as I wanted a little board to carry and play people with as well as to help me study book diagrams by playing them out on a 3D board. Yes, the product Is exactly as described, extra small and travel sized, which is awesome for portability. It fold up to fit in your pocket and visually everything is all good. The product's size becomes a problem however when you need to actually move the pieces with your fingers. The dimensions are so compact that in moving one piece, your fingers will inadvertently push aside the adjacent pieces. At least that's what I discovered, and it's not like have particularly large fingers or anything. I'm a normal adult. The product is fine and the magnetic pieces do their job. The board surface had some light pressure indents in it leading me to believe the surface can easily be marred and scratched if placed in pocket adjacent to hard objects like keys. It's a decent product for the price, but I don't think the extra small was really practically useful. Perhaps a pair of tweezers would be a legitimate solution to the problem I had. I recommend getting a bigger size than I did.

The board is sturdy. The magnetic pieces stay in place pretty well so if you're on a bumpy ride you won't lose your move. The pieces are very small as expected, so it's important to keep track of them so you can have a full board. If they made one of these with glow in the dark pieces it would be cool so a fallen piece would be visible.

The set is pretty good, with one major oversight: the lack of extra queens. I bought this to easily play along with books and puzzles. The small is just the right balance between portability and playability. The magnets feel very weak, but they're enough to hold the pieces on the board. The lack of extra queens is a major drawback for serious players. I would return it if I hadn't already thrown the box away. The overwhelmingly positive reviews from parents who don't play made me drop my guard. It'll be relegated to a backup or given to my 6yr old the first time I need two queens to finish a study.

Great quality product for only $10 and convenient for travel. I purchased for my 11 year old son to take to Summer Camp with his Scout Troop to work on his Chess Merit Badge and they suggest bringing your own board. I think this is perfect. Most of the kids know how to play Chess, so I imagine it will get played during random downtime too. Magnets hold well. No pieces were missing. Case closes securely. I purchased the Small 7.6"
