Great product at a great price with very quick shipping!
My work computer was fried yesterday by my youngest plugging a live usb cable in another port. killed the motherboard. for how much I paid for that machine, you'd think that they would have a contingency worked out. maybe put a fuse in there where all ports connect to prior to touching the motherboard. man, was I mad and anxious, I need a powerful machine for my work but I do have a couple spare laptops around that are just old, one is just for the kids to play with so they don't play with Dad's very expensive laptop. Another I use as a server, private email, download and stream machine and to manage my home network as well as a few other things. it's amazing what a machine with outdated hardware and a very large hardrive can do when running a lite Linux OS. well I needed the harddrive which happened to be a mini SSD from my work machine and startech.com in combo with amazon were able to get me the addaptor less than 12 hours from ordering it. took a laptop from my collection, one of the more decent ones, few screws, pulled the ssd out of it, inserted the adaptor, pluged the mSATA SSD into it and powered it up. horray! it worked perfectly. I seriously could not be a more satisfied customer and very much recomend this product for simular situations. it wouldn't be good for upgradding to a mSATA becouse it does create a bottle neck. for an upgrade I would just replace the harddrive with any regular size SSD but this was an absolutely amazing product for my situation. now the fun part- shopping for a new rig but for now, this will get e through the work week. I know you are thinking, "why dont you back your system up, then it would be be easy to copy the image to a spare drive." well I do have backups but right before this even happened I had just spent 8 hours working on a project that is important and has some personal info on clients along with an invoice for the work that was schedualed to be encrpted and backed up at 1 am like every other day to my homemade network NAS. the short of it is: this product is great, price is great, the seller is great, shipping was incredible. thank you guys so much, I will be recomending you to everyone. Good device, definitely recommend.
The StarTech SAT32MSAT257 mSATA SSD adapter turned out to be a pretty good addition to my gear collection. It is identical to the unit sold by Micro SATA Cables so I can't be sure who actually manufactures the device. I can tell you that it does exactly what it is designed for... it allows you to install a SATA III (6Gbps) mSATA SSD for use in a standard 2.5" SATA bay and run it at full speed. What attracted me to this adapter is the "open frame" design. Anyone with any amount of experience with this type of gear should be able to agree that many mSATA drives run hot. When mSATA drives are installed in full enclosures the heat can be trapped inside the enclosure which increases the drives temp and eventually reduces its lifespan. Some enclosures have thermal pads that help transfer heat from the mSATA drives to the metal cases of the enclosures but that functionality isn't universal and isn't always as reliable as it should be. With an open frame adapter such as this one you have better options for managing heat through airflow paths or through custom heat transfer solutions depending on your setup. Overall the unit does what it is designed to do and I believe it does it well.

... it was black to blend in it would be better, but yes it works well
If it was black to blend in it would be better, but yes it works well. Put it in a Corsair 450D behind the motherboard tray with a 1TB 840 EVO mSata drive.

Great for my laptop which has only a SATA 3.0gbps for mSATA drives, but a SATA 6gbps for 2.5"
I have a performance laptop from Original PC (the EON 17S), but as wonderful as it is, the mSATA port on-board is only SATA 3.0gbps. In order to take advantage of the 6.0gbps standard, you have to be using the 2.5" drive bays with your SSD. Realizing this, I decided to take my mSATA drive and convert it to a 2.5" SSD and purchased this device to do that. The device worked flawlessly, enabling me to plug my mSATA drive into the 2.5" drive bay and effectively DOUBLE the speed in which it was able to function. It basically enabled the computer to recognize the mSATA drive as a standard 2.5" SSD without any issues. If you have a laptop with mSATA support, you may want to check what version of SATA it is capable of, and if you have the same issue as me, this device is a GREAT solution for getting the true performance out of your mSATA drive.

Great adapter if you have an old mSATA drive lying around
I had an old mSATA EVO 850 from an older laptop that wasn't be used. So I bought this adapter and put it in my MSI GE62VR laptop for a secondary drive. So far after 6 months of use, I didn't have a single problem or hiccup yet. Note though the EVO 850 mSATA ssd runs a little warm, and STARTECH sells 2 versions of this adaptor. The open type like this one and a closed type. I recommend going with this version so the heat can dissipate better. There seems to be no transfer bottleneck when transferring files from the primary drive to this secondary drive, the speeds as high as SATA 3 can handle.

Allowed me to add a 2nd drive to my HP 840 G3 Laptop!
Utilized this to mount an mSATA drive into a 2.5" SATA bay in my laptop, an HP 840 G3. No clearance issues. Note that there are NO screw mounting options for the inside of a laptop, so you will also most likely need a SATA drive mount adapter if you are trying to utilize this to mount a 2nd drive in your device. I had to order mine for the HP 840 G3 from the HP Parts Store for 13bucks, but now I have 2 drives in my laptop!

DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM!
WHEN ANY mSATA SSD IS ADDED TO THIS ITEM, THE COMPUTERS SAY, " YOU DO NOT HAVE AUTHORIZATION TO ACCESS THIS DRIVE! BUT WHEN THE mSATA SSD IS PUT IN A NON STARTECH mSATA DRIVE SOCKET, THE mSATA DRIVE WORKS GREAT!
