This is better quality than most. It feels like a reflective vest construction workers use. It's insanely adjustable. I love how even the shoulders can be adjusted. I am 5'9" and 305lbs and it fit me (a little snug, but it did) my sister us 5'4 and 125lbs. It also fits her quite nicely. She likes to use it out jogging in the summer heat because it's lightweight and breathable. It helps her keep cool. I like using it for work. I can be uncomfortable in extreme heat; sometimes in the summer I cool down by wrapping ice packs around my neck. When I saw this vest/ice pack combo, I was curious; how did it work? The vest is made from a sturdy polyester fabric. It’s a touch stiff, but as I wore it, the fabric loosened up a bit. The vest is a one size fits most deal; the sales page says it fits up to 250 pounds. The vest is adjustable at the shoulders with Velcro, you can make it shorter or longer. It’s open on the sides and adjusts with webbing and plastic buckles, and the front has a zipper. The vest is bright blue, it reminds me of the color of vests at a certain big box store. There are six large waterproof pockets in the vest made to hold ice packs. Four are in the back and two in front. The vest comes with twenty small ice packs that need to be made up; you add water to the plastic packs, and a powder inside turns to gel, which you then freeze. My husband made up the ice packs, he said the first couple were tricky, because you can’t pour water back out. But he got the hang of it quickly, and said filling slowly was key. Once the water is in, the bags need to go into the freezer—be sure they lie flat when freezing, or you get lumpy ice packs, which aren’t very comfortable. Once the packs are frozen, you slip them into the front and back pockets and put on the vest. That’s it—very easy to use. I’ve been using mine on our patio; I put spare ice packs into a small quilted drink cooler, so I can swap out new ones when I need them. This lets me be outside for hours instead of minutes. I’ve always struggled with heat, and this cooling vest gives me more freedom in the warm months. The ice packs it comes with are terrible so I bought the flat ice packs for lunch boxes and the smaller thick ones because I'm a women. But this has saved my loved for the outdoors and being able to go on trips with my students. I have a heart condition and the heat and me no longer mix. I went from barley an hour outside to a 6 hour pumpkin patch trip in the nebraska heat and no issues. I wear a size xl in mens shirts and I have it almost as tight as it goes. I've had it 1.5 years and due to washing it had needed the edging repaired but not a huge issue.
