Absolutely love this knife!!!
I sat undecided with this purchase for nearly eight months. I suppose I was hoping it would go on sale, but had no such luck. Did I need another knife? No, but I likes it and I wants it! I’ll tell you what sold me on this knife though. First and foremost, I will no longer pocket any folding knife that doesn’t incorporate the Emerson wave feature; if you know you know. For me, this is absolutely a strict requirement for speed of deployment. Second, the blade is made with D2 steel. I have multiple blades with D2 steel as well as high end steels, but I always seem to reach for a D2 blade for my EDC. I use my blades in heavy duty applications e.g. drywall, masonry, framing, plumbing, etc. D2 is tougher and holds its edge much longer than any other steel I have used, and that doesn’t rust out quickly. Additionally, it is easier to sharpen and hone than many of my high end stainless steel blades. I had concerns with the geometry of the blade respective to the wave feature. My concern was that the wave wouldn’t sit proud enough for it to function properly. However, this concern was laid to rest after testing it out multiple times. It deploys smoothly & effortlessly with the wave feature as well as the flipper projection. Lock up has absolutely no slop in it as I expected from Russian quality. Albeit, the handle is thicker (≈ 17.5mm) than most folders and flippers, I find that the thickness and the design of the handle to be extremely secure in my hand as well as very comfortable, and the balance is spot on! Lastly, I love the handle’s red inlays, absolutely stunning, and the Russian star is a very nice touch.

Definitely recommend!
This thing is a well built tool. 10/10 I am wanting to purchase another as a spare should I lose the original. Smooth action and solid locking, but I have massive hands and love the weight and thickness of this design. Keep in mind should you want a light and thin wave design. Wish I knew about this sooner.

Fantastic knife that has held up with daily use
I bought this knife back in September 2024 and was impressed with how sharp it was, gliding through printer paper, receipt paper and even bubble wrap packing envelopes with ease. I figured it would start to fail me with a few months as I've always been told EDC knives usually start in the couple hundred of dollars. I've used this for the last 5 months to cut cardboard, open boxes, letters, cutting plastic like zip ties as well as my EDC, being thrown around when I get home and bumping into things. It still still hasn't lost its sharpness at all and no damage to the handle. The build quality of it is phenomenal, very easy to open with your finger and flick it open and easy to close. I can also squeeze the handle pretty tight and don't feel like it's going to cave in or damage anything. Personal preference but the black and red color compliments it nicely. Mine did develop a squeaking sound when closing it last month, but that was fixed by taking apart the screw, putting a few drops of oil I use for my guns on the bearing and the squeak hasn't returned. Fantastic knife for the price, really impressed and feel I got more than my money worth out of it. Hopefully I won't have to buy another, but if I ever end up breaking this knife, I am 100% buying another one.

Excellent knife
Incredible knife. Very well made, Incredibly sharp. It's a larger pocket knife but it's very comfortable to carry. Design, weight, grib, comfort is excellent.

Good knife.
Good blade, shaving sharp after a good stropping for burr removal. This is a Russian knife and it is very well made. The wave works well. Good buy.

VERY well thought out, VERY well built EDC knife at a BARGAIN price!
I'm a bit of a knife nut, so when my Wife told me she ordered this for me, I had my doubts - which were all wrong! Starting with unboxing - the Mongoose 2C comes in a nice presentation grade box nestled in a foam cutout and a plastic bag. There is silver lettering on the outside in Russian, and a Russian website listed on the box, but the label on the back has a Chinese address. On to the knife itself: It's big and chunky with a very solid feel in the hand, yet more lightweight than it would appear. The G10 scales are contoured on the edges, making it very comfortable to hold. The scales have a nice texture and some carving in them for a grippy feel that doesn't seem as though it will tear up my pocket. The pocket clip is thin, but stiff. I flexed mine open a bit to get it to the level of grip that I like in my pocket. There is also a lanyard hole for people who prefer that (I won't use that since this knife has a wave opener). The handle also has finger contouring that is very comfortable to grip, and a DEEP index finger groove and the heel of the blade steel adds even a few more millimeters to that height while the spine has nice, rounded jimping on the back of the Emerson wave opener for a thumb rest. There is also jimping by the pocket clip for an ice-pick grip. The G10 ends just after the pivot, leaving the thick liners, which are shaped to a shallow pyramid point, exposed for use as a window breaker. I'm not often a fan of liner locks, but this is a true exception - the skeletonized liners are at least 1.5mm thick and engage the blade with a solid "thwack" - NO play in the blade. open or closed, no rattles either. Very safe opening, closing and handling knife. Opening this knife manually with the slit or the flipper is SMOOTH as glass - a little effort to get past the initial detent, then it's silky smooth all the way until the liner lock engages. The wave opener (my preferred method) works perfectly, opening the blade lightning fast as it exits my pocket. The blade itself is a beautifully done wharncliffe shape - nicely polished to a high satin finish with all the corners beveled. The spine is beveled, but not to a false edge, more for strengthening the blade. This tapers gracefully all the way to the VERY sharp tip. While on the subject of sharp, the edge of mine came shaving sharp from the box - VERY NICE! I love D2 (very underrated steel IMHO) - tough, holds an edge well but still easy to sharpen. The price point on this knife is pretty incredible, I've paid MUCH more for lesser knives. - Get this one before they figure it out! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
