Hymns Ancient and Modern - New Standard Version: Full Music and Words Edition (New Standard Edition)

Arrived quickly (sooner than delivery estimate) well packaged with a friendly note, and excellent condition. This is a more compact traditional hymn book than some, so it stays on the music stand of our piano, and yet the print and layout are very clear.

It is a very well presented hymnbook. Unfortunately I ordered the wrong edition and had to return it. I have now acquired a Revised Edition which is the version we use in our local church.

This book looks good the music enclosed makes it a little bit special. Given as a gift it makes a wonderful present for hymn and music lovers

My church choir's stock of A&M full music and words has diminished over the years until there were not enough to go round. Also some of them were very worn. So I decided to replace them, or buy some more to augment the supply. A bequest given to our church paid for them, or we could not have afforded them. The choir is very pleased with the sparkling new copies!

As an ordained minister this hymnal is great, I use it every week.

The book is a bit worn out, which the seller got from a charity shop. Fine, nothing is wrong with that, but I expect the seller to tidy it up a bit, at least not leaving the cheap price tag of the charity on it. I bought the book as a gift, and the person was with me when it came, Both of us were disappointed to see the Charity tag boldly displayed.

An excellent publication - used as a gift for a budding church organist - good quality product, delivered on time and met all expectations.

Not everyone wants a hymn book, I did and this one's fine. Sometimes it's the only way to keep track of those wel loved old favourites.

I just love the 'old' hymns (compared to many of the 'folky' tunes of today) and they are ALL here. All the popular tunes and wonderful, inspiring words just flow together in this volume. Just a shame you don't hear them sung that much in a great many churches now. There is such dignity and Godliness in these Hymns, so do yourself a favor. Buy this, sing the hymns and educate yourself in what used to be beautiful, reverent, and spiritually comforting tunes. This book is perfectly laid out to with SYLLABIC guide for tunes as well as by composer and title of hymn. It doesn't get any better than this!!

BUYER BEWARE. THIS IS A SCAM! (a) This edition is 34 years old (1983) and is missing 32% of songs (i.e. 307 songs!) found in the "REAL" Full Edition (2013 edition currently used by your church today)! (b) The print is MICROSCOPIC (you would need a magnifying glass for many of the pages)--unlike the much-bigger printer in the 2013 version you're used to using in your local church. Impossible to easily read!! (c) The PHYSICAL DIMENSIONS presented by Amazon in the product description are ABSOLUTELY UN-TRUE. It is MUCH SMALLER! (Please see my screen-capture of the Amazon description, and actual-ruler-measurements pictures I took myself.) (d) The TITLE of the "CURRENT" VERSION is virtually the same as the TITLE of this "34-year-old-obsolete" edition. The product description implies "complete" and "full" etc. . . .but it is NOT. 32% of the songs (i.e. 307 songs! are MISSING. (So, how the heck is THAT "full"?) Only a LIBRARIAN would notice the subtle difference. MY OPINION: There are likely thousands of these "34 year old versions" still floating around (probably due to over-printing by the publisher), which the re-sellers here on Amazon are trying desperately to "un-load" on idiot purchasers who don't know they are getting taken for a ride. (Would you buy a CAR that is 34 years old? Nope. Not unless you didn't KNOW it was an "obsolete" version that had been sitting on the dealer's lot (i.e. book sellers' warehouse) for 34 years. A fair analogy, me thinks! When I discovered I had been mislead in this purchase, I contacted the seller (bookdepository.ca) who told me I had to pay to ship the book back to the USA from Canada to get a refund. Do you have ANY IDEA how much Canadapost charges to ship a heavy book from Canada to the USA? What to speak of the hassle of going to the post office? So, this product is MISREPRESENTED in SO MANY WAYS, and then *I* should have to pay to ship it back? Outrageous! Another comment: There appears to be a certain amount of "collusion" going on here, to perpetrate this fraud: (a) First, Amazon is publishing the description (absolutely wrong book dimensions, and not a mention at all about the "missing songs" in this obsolete version), then (b) the book re-sellers (i.e. bookdepository.ca) who are pushing this junk version, keep their mouths shut. Got 20th impression book January 2013, printed in China!!!. Paper thickness could have been better, can see music/verses printed on the other side !!!!. What is wrong with modern hymn book publishers ?. It is the same case for other hymn books like N.E.H, C.H 4, etc... Would have given 5stars if paper thickness were better. On the bright side, book got delivered well ahead of estimated delivery.
