Scalextric C7005 Digital Chip - Retro-Fit, Track Accessory Toy

Well packaged. Clear instructions - although the instructions were obviously meant to cover ONLY the formula 1-style cars, with the narrow bodies, whereas I'd bought this for a saloon-bodied car (since I couldn't find anyone selling a C7006 at the time). I had to use a bit of lateral thinking when deciding where to mount it and cut some of the wires to length before soldering. YOU DO HAVE TO BE COMPETENT using a soldering iron to make use of this product. I was VERY pleased when, after the conversion, I put the car on the track and it ran perfectly from the first pull of the throttle!

If you are a Scalextric fan and using the DCC system, This item works well, Delighted with this item, the price is competitive. Before purchasing be sure it fits you car.

So this chip does not have the massive capacitor on the board anymore A++! Thankfully as it was very difficult to install in a Polly car lotus 72. This is the new updated chip which has now headlight connection. Scalextric never announced it though! But l won't complain about innovation as everyone talks Carrera! Thank you so much scalextric

The best thing with this Chip "A" is its size. It is very small and will fit in most cars. I went for this over the saloon Chip as it was cheaper there is no difference except the size. I fitted it to a Gotham City Police car which proved slightly more difficult as I had to allow for the wiring to the flashing red lights. It all worked great first time. The Chip is very durable even with my lack of care.

It's a little fiddly to install, but I'd never done soldering before and bought a 25w soldering iron and some solder and managed it fine. The car runs perfectly. I'm going to order another so I can convert another car!

It can be a bit tricky to fit the circuit into the body especially on older cars. The electrical bit is easy enough though.

Gives new life to older cars. These are quite simple to fit if you can use a soldering iron. My first car to digitise was a Peugeot 307 WRC four wheel drive. With the motor in the front and a belt drive to the rear axle it's a tight squeeze on these.

You need some skills with a soldering iron, and be careful with the slot car choice, its not good with high rpm motors. 18000 or less is fine, and you will probably need to make sure there is a "ferrite man" at the motor side of the wiring. Or at least a ceramic "disc".

These things work very well. You use them to convert non-DPR, or just about any modestly-powered slot car, to run on Scalextric Digital tracks. Installation is a bit tricky. You must have at least rudimentary soldering skills and a suitable (somewhat low-wattage) soldering iron to install them.
