KONG Beaver Refillable Catnip Toy (Colors Vary)

We have 3 cats and were shopping for inexpensive toys for them for Christmas. I thought this looked pretty cute and the price was reasonable, so even if they weren't wild about it, it wouldn't be a big waste especially since it comes with catnip. It looks and feels pretty well constructed. The "fur" is attached well and does not come off during play. The tube of catnip was fresh and it comes with a decent amount. The back of the toy opens up and you pour the catnip inside the toy animal, then seal it back up with velcro. There is no inner bag to fill or anything like that. The space for the catnip takes up pretty much the entire body of the beaver, so you can get a lot in there. With no catnip, the toy is mostly flat. I was concerned that the velcro would not seal well and the catnip would spill, but my fears were unwarranted (but see below). My cats LOVE this toy! This is not only their favorite present, but it is their favorite toy overall right now. I am a bit surprised, because I have given them catnip - stuffed toys before and they were largely indifferent. They would smack the toy a couple of times then lose interest. There must be something special about this beaver though, because it holds their interest for a long time and they become really engaged with it. My boy got to it first. He is playful to begin with, but even so, he threw this all over the living room and by the time he was done the beaver was soggy from him chewing on it (yet no fur came out, there were no holes or rips, and I saw no spilled catnip anywhere although the velcro held, which seems a bit odd). One of my girls got ahold of it next. She is a bit older and more settled than my boy, but she also played with it for a good long time. They are still batting it around this morning, although I have not refilled it, and it is slobbery again so I can tell they are really enjoying it. They don't walk by it without at least giving it a smack or a good sniff. They have never played with a toy as much as they play with this one. I really recommend this toy. I also suggest that, despite the decent amount of catnip that comes with it, you should probably buy extra as I suspect that this toy will not deteriorate quickly. My cats will use up the catnip that came with it before they destroy the toy, I think. I am going to see if Kong makes this toy in other animal shapes.

I purchased this adorable Refillable Catnip Turtle toy for my 4 kittens and they enjoy playing with it. They like to throw it up in the air and then catch it. Then, another kitten will come by and take it, and that is when the games begin. We have tile floors so, this turtle will glide around when they are playing with it, this is a good exercise toy for sure. The turtle is very soft so, it makes a good snuggle toy. One kitten will usually fall asleep with it after a sprint around the house, very cute indeed. It comes with a generous amount of Catnip filled inside of a plastic tube. To insert the catnip, on the belly of the turtle there is Velcro that opens and closes. Just pull apart the Velcro and insert the tube to fill it up with how much catnip you desire. Then, just close it back up and the turtle is catnip ready. I have kept the plastic tube and refilled it with catnip that I purchased so, that I can change the catnip when needed. For me, inserting the catnip into the turtle is so much easier using the plastic tube. The turtle is made out of a soft, plush fabric and even with the Velcro, the turtle is soft all over. We have not experienced any problems with the catnip falling out of the turtle, and my kittens can be very rough with it when playing. Since my kittens like this turtle, I plan on buying a few more catnip toys like the squirrel too. We have had a great experience with this toy and I would recommend this turtle to my fellow cat owners.

This one caught me by surprise. My 9 year old cat is usually the "kicker" and even tho it had catnip in it she was not too impressed. HOWEVER, my daughters little feral rescue cat, absolutely love, loves, LOVES, it!! When my Callie walked over and sat down and gave me a look like "seriously?", Mouse my daughters feral kitten was all over it. Kicking the heck out of it and it's the first time we've heard her PURR!!! She's not played with any of the other kitty toys only this one, even two weeks later, it engages her .COMPLETELY!! She stalks it, pounces, flips it up into the air, then runs and hides. Rinse/Repeat. So my domestic (she's 9, maybe it's her age) is not too interested but she will give it a whack on occasion, but my daughters little feral kitten, it's like being outside without all the danger. Will purchase this again when she "kills" the other one, though I don't see that happening anytime soon, this is a sturdy kicker. It's a joy to watch her play with it.

I'd rate this higher if I had received the toy! I only received the vial of cat nip--no beaver. And man, my cat is going to be sad b/c she LOVES the squirrel Kong toy. She carries it all around the house throwing it up in the air and catching the squirrel. I ordered the beaver as backup since she's bound to lose her toy. I didn't expect it to be lost before it arrived. But, alas--cardboard holder with nip and an empty space where a beaver should be. Please send the beaver... __________________________ OK, Amazon gave me a refund and I ordered this item again. This time it actually came with the toy! The cats both like the beaver, but I think because the squirrel has a fluffy tail, which is easier to grasp, they prefer the squirrel one. I am not giving this five stars though because the vial of "catnip" is definitely something else. I've attached a picture. There are multiple shards of plastic and organic material that is definitely NOT catnip. It looks like a scraps in a field after a farmer cuts down a crop. The first two vials I received were actually cat nip so I'm not sure what happened with this. But keep an eye out if you order this, and please don't give this to your cats. I'm using the leftover catnip that has come with other toys and scratch pads instead of whatever this is. The beaver body has more room to fill with catnip btw. So, when you use real catnip there is more for the felines to enjoy.

My cat still plays with it. I have had to replace the cat nip in it tons of times and he still throws it around the house catching it, and just all around loves it. It is one of his favorite toys. Not one that gets lost where he cannot find it thats for sure. Keeps him active and out of mischief... Well... Okay thats a lie.. Cats always get into trouble so no amount of toys will ever completely keep them out of the mischief but it keeps him entertained well enough. Mom approves as well as kitty. The design on the toy is good, the quality is great as well, the feathers have not came out nor has the ears or the nose. The velcro does get a little stuck with the cat nip if you're not careful but it still seals up tight so it doesn't come out. Just sometimes you will have cat nip stuck in the velcro. Which isn't a big deal or anything, since it stays sealed up, just can be a little messy after it falls out.. Thats okay though with the amount of fun that the cat has and the amount of time it keeps him active, I'm okay with a little cat nip getting out on the floor. The vacuum will just sweep it up.

At first, my two kittens didn't show much interest in Mr. Beaver, despite being loaded with a little bit of catnip. They much preferred chasing a little mouse on a stick, which we (their humans) actively moved and wiggled around for them. I figured they didn't like stationary toys like Mr. Beaver and they fell into the 30% category of cats that weren't affected by catnip. Apparently, they just couldn't smell at the time. My two kittens had upper respiratory infections coming from the shelter. Once that cleared up, they went wild over Mr. Beaver and Mr. Hedgehog . One kitten grabs Mr. Beaver in her mouth and pounces away with the other kitten chasing her. Once they're tired out, they drop Mr. Beaver and do something else, but the next time their eyes fall on Mr. Beaver, the hunt begins again. The tube of catnip that comes with the toy is huge. It will last us awhile. Mr. Beaver is also easy to refill, unlike some toys where it's a struggle to get the velcro open or has little space to fit catnip. Plus, Mr. Beaver is pretty cute. Recommended.

Why oh why do we keep trying to excite our cats? Ha ha! Once again, I have been duped into buying a toy that I (emphasis on "I") thought was very cute. You peel open the tummy and load it with catnip - how bad could it be? Yet again, I am more impressed with the toy than the cats are! They are fairly young cats too, just having their first birthday last month. So, it isn't like they are old cronies, refusing to like all things new. They were just bored silly with it. They both gave it the polite, obligatory sniffs required of all things new that come into the house. One slapped it once or twice, just to be sure it was dead. That was it. It has not been touched since, and yet another item goes into the "nobody loves me" toy collection. So, very cute idea, cute design,but the cats remain unimpressed.

My two cats absolutely love Da Beavers, as we call them. My big mistake was initially ordering only one Beaver. This led to some hurt feelings, accusations of human favoritism, and a surprising display of dominant behavior by our small female cat. She seized Da Beaver and growled at us when we tried to take it away (thinking we would just hide the new Beaver until we could obtain a second Beaver for our big male cat.) I had to send my husband on an emergency trip to the only brick-and-mortar store in the Denver Metro area that had a Beaver in stock. Hence, the following WARNING: Order a Beaver for each cat, plus maybe an extra Beaver, in case of Beaver loss or destruction. If your cats are well-mannered, and each cat keeps to his/her own Beaver, you can gift the extra Beaver to a friend's cat. Such is da power of Da Beaver! P.S. Also adding to the purchase value is the amusement potential of the inherent double entendre of this particular cat toy. Practice keeping a straight face before you get embarrassed like I did, when my husbands' coworker buddies stopped by to help move a motorcycle. They overheard me talking to the female cat about her toy, and ...well, it was hilarious. The embarrassing part was that I couldn't stop laughing.

A mi gato le encantó. La posibilidad de rellenarlo de catnip es genial porque de esa forma cada que lo relleno le vuelve a atraer. Con otros juguetes que vienen rellenos el olor se pierde y dejan de jugarlos. Además es muy resistente, al principio me preocupaba que lo abriera y le sacara el catnip pero no sucede, cierra bien y no se abre a pesar del constante juego. Lo recomiendo. Además es muy económico ( $50 ).

La mia gatta ne va pazza! Lo porta ovunque, deve averlo sempre con sè! Da quando è arrivato, il topolino è passato in secondo piano, anzi... per lei non esiste più! Il fratello invece... abbastanza indifferente, ci gioca solo quando vede lei giocarci.
