Plug and play with new Mac mini.
This device connects seamlessly with the recently updated Mac mini, which is a powerhouse in itself. The overall device footprint is a smaller size making this an easy plug/play/forget item. Stored items boot quickly from this drive too. The drive is a bit on the warmer side while I’m use but when the mac mini is placed in sleep mode standby temps are greatly reduced. Overall secure, lower price point and high quality drive for user applications that need external storage solutions with a storage limited device like a base model Mac mini.

An Excellent Drive for Photo Storage & Editing
Addressing the elephant in the room, this external requires its own power supply, it cannot simply run off of being connected to a computer. As uncommon as that is today, you should know it before purchasing and if that’s a deal breaker then you need a different external device. If that’s not an issue for you then I would highly recommend this drive. For me, the only limitation is bringing this drive in the field or maybe using It at an airport, which I personally wouldn’t do anyway. It’s not inconvenient to bring it from home to the office or using it in a hotel and even a lot of coffee shops have plugs near tables today. It simply depends on where you are going to need to use it. I use the 8tb with my MacBook Pro to house all of my 100K+ image library for Lightroom and Photoshop work. For the past several years I have shot with a Sony a7R III and Canon R5, both produce large raw files and editing them through this drive, especially complex edits, has been much faster than my prior drives. I do not do any video work, so I cannot speak to how well it would perform, but I would expect very well. The drive is responsive and fast, and (fortunately) I have not suffered from any connection issues. For a “portable” ssd it is on the chunky side, definitely not pocketable, but when sitting on my desk or a hotel bedside table I wouldn’t consider it oversized or inconvenient. I do think it is a bit too pricey, but currently, the options for an 8tb external ssd are limited. If you need (or just want) a large capacity external ssd I would highly recommend this drive, especially if you are considering using it as I do, to carry an image library and run edits through it.

Nice and fast
Spendy but nice storage capacity and value for money. I like the portability of this drive. Quality seems great. It is easy to use and the design is different but nice. I like that it's stable and not likely to tip over if the cable gets pulled a little.

Fast performer; big capacity!
This is my second purchase of these. I use this everyday as the primary data drive for a fast desktop computer. Most computers today come with a 1TB or 2TB SSD. This provides much more storage and is incredibly fast. No setup; just plug it in and you're ready to go.

Overheats and failed after 8 months
8 months and it failed. That’s BS. And it’s gone up 30% since March! I would choose something else. It also got extremely hot to the touch. Not well designed and now it’s garbage.

Almost a 5 Star
Overall, I was very pleased with the product and would recommend it. You have to keep in mind, however, that it is compatible with Windows 10 and up (but not backwards). I did try to use it with an older Windows 7 laptop, hoping that it might work but it was not recognized. Again, that's not the fault of the device, they were clear about the compatibility but you must be aware of this if you have an older computer. I had to work around it by moving files to an older external drive first and then move them to the Sandisk from there. I also ran into issues with the Acronis True Image software that came with it. It took forever to load and would not complete an image backup without errors. To be fair, this could be an issue with my computer but my computer is fairly new and has Windows 11, so I wasn't expecting to have a problem. To work around this, I was able to switch to "EaseUS Todo - free" and it worked fine. Also moving files with Windows File Explorer worked fine. You also have to keep in mind that the advertised speed only applies to reading or writing directly to or from the Sandisk. When I moved files from other hard drives to the Sandisk, the copy process was much, much slower, probably due to the speed of the other devices. So, the only reason I gave it a 4 vs. a 5 was because, I kept running into issues that I had to resolve and I had hoped it would be a much smoother process. I had not had the problem with other external drives that I have. However, the Sandisk itself, when used as designed and mentioned in the specs, worked just fine. I am not disappointed in my purchase and recommend it for its quality and performance. It is small, made well, easy to use, and had very significant storage capacity. If you have a current, nice computer, it probably will be just fine.

Comes with the software needed to clone an SSD/HD
This SSD comes with everything you need to back up and restore should you be facing any problems. My mac was on the fritz permissions wise so i needed to do a full wipe and upgrade to the latest os. unboxed this, plugged it in, and its already on the right type EXFAT so everything works on mac and windows. got all my data saved pretty fast and restored my mac with EASE. i bought a mini pc and was able to get all my stuff on windows and both ssds backed up should anything else happen so i wont have down time. well worth the money.

So I'm one of those weirdos who likes having as much of their game library installed as possible. So when the PS5 came out I brought an 8TB external drive full of PS4 games over with me. There wasn't really anything wrong with the drive per se, but a 5400RPM mechanical drive with a USB 3.1 connection leads to loooong wait times when you're shuffling around game files, especially when you just want to put aside a massive PS5 install to make room for a new game. 3/4 ports on the PS5 are USB 3.2 10gbps ports, so faster should be possible, right? Enter this little guy, and it is PERFECT. When I started transferring files over from my old external it took about five hours to transfer 2.2 TB from my old mechanical USB 3.1 external to my installed M.2. It took less than two to transfer them to the new drive. 2.5 times faster. Not even CLOSE. Going by maximum limits it should actually have been many times faster, but Sony's data transfer utility has always been slow, this is nothing new, been like that since the PS3. With a 1000 mb/sec maximum sequential read and 900 mb/sec sequential write (sourced from Sandisk's website), this little guy actually exceeds the maximum theoretical speed of USB 3.2 Gen 2 (1250 mb/sec). Which is good, as it means the drive is no longer a bottleneck. It will read or write data as fast as the system can move it through the port. End result: much faster file transfers, and an appreciable bump to load times. Not quite what you'd get moving the game to either the onboard drive or an M.2 in the expansion slot, but in testing old faithful: Bloodborne, which on PS4 on a mechanical drive could have load times anywhere from 20 seconds to over a minute, it's close enough I don't feel compelled to move my PS4 games internally before playing them anymore just to try and save some time staring at loading screens. Could you get faster? Well uhh....not really. You could put a PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD in an enclosure and use that, but that would be considerably more expensive, and you'd be so bottlenecked by the USB 3.2 Gen 2 port that it would run at....exactly the same speed as this drive. You would need Gen 2x2 or Thunderbolt to get faster, but those aren't found on any game console. Yet, anyway. This baby hits a sweet spot for big, fast, external SSD storage that will make full use of the available system ports, but isn't so fast it's overkill for the purpose. All of that taken together makes this the absolute best option available for an external drive for your PS5. That said it is still an 8TB SSD so it's not cheap, but it's on sale frequently and split payments are available (or they were for me anyway). I strongly recommend making use of them to help mitigate the cost.

Often have hassles with products that do not sink with Apple. This back drive is amazing.
