National Hardware V852 Anti-Sag Gate Kit

I'm one of those weird people that like to make sure my front garden gate is closed, it used to really bother me that 60-70% of the time I would look out of the living room window and the gate was just wide open either left open by the postman/woman, Amazon delivery drivers (that seems to come almost daily now) or my kids, it felt like I was forever having to go out and close the gate. Well no more! Bought this anti-sag gate kit along with a gate spring, fitted them both on the same day, it probably took me maybe 20-30 mins to install both, now my gate no longer sags or drags on the path, the anti-sag gate kit seem to work great so far, along with the fitted gate spring my front garden gate now closes effortlessly and without issue, was easy to install and does exactly what it is supposed to do. Now I look out of my window and the gate is closed 100% of the time, it makes me feel all warm inside. Just a heads-up, the wire is pretty long so if you are installing this anti-sag gate kit on a smaller front garden fence you may find that you have a lot of excess wire, I only had the plier style wire cutters but they just couldn't cut through so had to invest in bolt cutters to trim the wire down.

This device raised my drooping caravan decking gate quite easily and further adjustment is possible. The downsides are you may need to adapt the brackets and drill a hole in the bottom one. See my photos. I also needed a grinder to cut the excess cable as it is very strong. The system also pulls the bottom corner inwards a bit, but that may be due to the design of my gate. All in all though I'm delighted with the finished result and I recommend it if you have a similar problem.

I wish I knew about this sooner. I only found out about this system through a lengthy Google search to how to fix my gate. It's easy to fit, albeit a bit fiddly, it's definitely sturdy, I mounted the hardware about a year ago and it's still perfect. The only way you'll be able to see is if you looked behind the gate or when I have it fully open. Overall a good product, and excellent solution and a good value for money.

I built a gate that uses horizontal ship-latt so the Z-brace on the back failed to stop the gate from sagging. This appliance fixed it, and was simple to install. I did have to add two blocks of wood to each corner (top right and bottom left) to connect the braces onto, but it was pretty simple to install. My gate is so heavy that it tried to sag immediately. I just turned the hexagon tightener by hand and it lifted the gate a good 10mm (almost half inch). The videos online are overkill. If you have to add two pieces of wood to your gate to get nice squared up angles for the two braces, I'd suggest you build the appliance onto the two pieces of wood first and then just screw the two pieces of wood onto your gate. That worked great for me.

The product in itself is good and does what it says. BUT, if you're planning on using this for a gate already in situ, you will need to remove your gate to attach this. The fixings for the corner brackets are on the top and side of the gate / bottom and side of the gate. It would make a lot more sense to have the fixing holes on the face of the gate so it can be attached with the gate in situ. Other than that, it does its job well.

Love this. My gate would drag along the ground and this, plus a quick youtube tutorial on how to install it, fixed the issue. Took maybe 10 minutes total with no power tools.

Was sceptical when received the kit... The wire looked a bit flimsy at first. Installed the corner brackets no problem. The U-clamps are small, and bolts are a challenge to tighten. Overall, I was able to get a 1.5 inch sag lift from my heavy wood door. Impressive... Time will tell if this kit supports the weight of time or not...

Straightforward kit that does exactly what it promises. Everything you need is in the box brackets, cable, turnbuckle and installation only took about 20 minutes with basic tools. Tightened right up and my gate is sitting square again with no more scraping on the ground. Solid zinc coating looks like it'll hold up outdoors without rusting anytime soon. Great value for the price, would buy again if needed for another gate.
