UMI Step Down Transformer 220V to 110V 1200W Use US Appliances to Europe

I bought this 220-110 Volt 1200 Watt step down transformer to replace an UMI 800W unit that I was using for a home office paper shredder in MNL. I blew the caps (capacitors) off the 800W unit because I didn't realize that the shredder wattage at 720W was nominal, not peak. When I started it up after several days there was a loud bang and my transformer was no more.To ensure this didn't happen again, I purchased this 1200W bad boy and since deploying it, I haven't had any issues. There are several features of this converter that make for it to be a great purchase. First, It is quiet. Second, it has an easily read display showing the incoming voltage. Third, it doesn't get too hot and finally, it looks good. Unlike many stepdown converters sold today online which look industrial, this UMI looks very pleasing (with a white plastic casing). It can set on a kitchen counter or in a bedroom and not look really out of place.A couple of other things. The back of the case comes with an inset slot so you can hang the converter on the wall with a screw. Note that the converter is heavy (heavier than it looks) and needs to be attached securely into a stud or concrete (not just 1/2" or 5/8" thick drywall).When a load is not running, the converter uses a very small amount of standby power which is owing in part to the toroidal transformer (which also accounts for the transformer's weight). The converter's output consists of two receptacles - one is 100VAC (Japan) and the other is 110VAC (North America). Be careful which one you plug your 120VAC device into. I've applied a small piece of electrical tape across the 100VAC outlet to ensure I don't mistakenly use it.All in all, I am very happy with my purchase and would purchase again should I need an additional unit.

Does the job. Seems like a quality product. Used to run a device that requires 250W max, so not close to using full capacity. The right visor showing actual wattage is useful. Item is heavy, but not a problem for my application

Use it for a pressure cooker, instant pot, and nutra bullet. It is working very well. The display screen is very helpful to determine how many volts you are using. It also has a nice design look comparted to the old school chunck of metal. I hope it lasts.

Bought it just so that I could use my wifi instant pot as it's only on 110VYou need to be careful in selecting which model you want for what purposes, some work on reverse mode , pay here and understand which model works in what manner, seller never replied to my query.But the device is working amazing even after 8 months. I bought this model as its capacity is just slightly over the instant pots min requirement. I think this is better than buying the exact same capacity as instant pot's requirement.The meter shows the voltage when the instant pot is heating , and it will fluctuate as instant pot requires more voltage or when it reaches the desired temp. I switch the device off after usage.Only con is the wire is too short, you need to place the service as far away from the steam and pressure instant pot makes to prevent and liquid falling onto the converters vent.

Not good enough. Packed up within 3 months of use.

When I got this I thought it was defective because when I plugged anything into it the circuit breaker for the entire wall would trip off. I found out the wall outlet had an internal short that tripped when anything plugged into it and was switched on. Once I used a different outlet the unit worked correctly for my High End Stereo system which included a very high power (500 watt) Amplifier that draws a lot of current. I think this converter is a value and is very reasonably priced. I have an 8 outlet circuit breaker hooked to it and it operates 8 pieces of equipment including my TV, DVD player, the Amp and Preamp, CD player, and Turntable for hours with no issues. When I had the problem with it shutting off I contacted the supplier. Even though it was past the return date, and I was in Portugal, the were going to arrange for me to return it to the factory in China for repair or exchange. Very helpful and courteous supplier. I can highly recommend both the converter and the supplier.

I bought this to use my printer and tv in Europe. Great product it has a nice design.

I bought this for my uncle's kitchenaid stand mixer, the mixer was bought in canada, he lives in Portugal, as far as I know its been working great with daily use. It weights about as much as a rhino but that's to be expected from a transformer capable of withstanding this power.

Le produit est arrivé assez rapidement. De l’extérieur le transformateur parait comme dans la description. Cependant je ne l'ai pas encore testé dans le pays du 220v.
