Orange Pekoe A - the largest leafed grade. Orange does not refer to the flavor. I bought this tea after hiking the tea plantations in Sri Lanka and tasting the different grades. This one tests very good and full flavored to me. We were told that the larger the leaf, the better, which is why you buy loose leaf tea. Tea bags have a lot of tiny pieces.

Can this be used for kombuca? Is it flavored? Does it contain caffine?

Yes, it can be used for kombucha. No, it isn’t flavored. Yes, it contains caffeine. For kombucha, avoid Earl Grey because it has bergamot oil in it, which can harm the bacteria. Avoid any other teas with flavoring for the same reason.

What is the date of the manufacture on the tea?

I usually order more of this tea before I run out, so I usually have a full box on hand before I use up the currently open box. It looks like the last time I ordered any was in December 2018. The date range on that box is 5/3/2019-5/3/2022. So the last box I got was dated (had an expiration date) of several months (to several months and 3 years, if that can be believed) later.

Is the opa (considered) better than the regular Ceylon or just different? How so?

OPA is large leaf Ceylon tea, the regular consists of smaller cut leaf. I like them both equally.
