Industrial Era Fragance
This Wright’s Coal Tar Soap is an absolute British legend in a bar. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and my skin feels cleaner than a Sunday morning conscience. Proper old-school power soap that doesn’t mess about. The smell? Glorious. It hits you like a Victorian apothecary had a love child with a smoky railway engine. One whiff and you’re instantly transported back to 1890, feeling like you should be wrestling bears or curing consumption. My bathroom now smells like a proper gentleman’s grooming emporium — none of that fancy floral nonsense that smells like it’s trying too hard. It lathers up beautifully, leaves skin feeling fresh, tingly, and suspiciously healthy. Spots don’t stand a chance, and I’ve come out the shower smelling like I’ve just finished a hard day down the pit (in the best possible way). Even the dog gives me a respectful nod now. For the price it’s cracking value too. One bar lasts ages and makes you feel like you’re taking your hygiene seriously, not just faffing about with modern gimmicks. If you want soap that actually does something and smells like it means business, stop whatever you’re doing and get some Wright’s. Your skin (and your ancestors) will thank you. 10/10, very handy if the kids have been doing a spot of chimney cleaning too!

Nostalgia in a soap bar.
Psy-op soap. Makes your hand smell like they have been cleaned to an industrial level. Enough lather build up. A solid bar of soap.

Good Stinky Soap
Is it good soap that cuts through oils and grease? Yes, very much so. Does it lather up well? It does. Do you feel clean after using it? You do indeed. Does it smell? OH, it PONGS - even with a ceiled tub to put it in in between uses, your place ( not jsut bathroom, but attached rooms to your bathroom ) will smell strongly of some kind of pot-pouri mixed with what i can only describe as..horse stables?? It's a nice strong smell when using it - but that lingering smell is really not what you want.

Smells Like Cleanliness, Nostalgia, and a Slightly Naughty Victorian Apothecary
If you’ve never tried Wright’s Coal Tar Soap, prepare yourself — because this little amber brick doesn’t just wash you, it reboots your entire personality. One shower and suddenly I’m striding around the house like a 19th‑century doctor who prescribes “fresh air and a brisk scrub” for every ailment. The scent is gloriously old‑school: smoky, medicinal, comforting… like your grandad’s workshop and a spa had a baby. Does it lather? Oh yes. Does it leave you feeling cleaner than a confession booth on a Monday morning? Absolutely. Does it make you wonder why modern soaps bother existing? Without question. My skin feels fresh, calm, and slightly smug — as if it knows it’s been treated to something legendary. If you want a soap that smells like heritage, hygiene, and a hint of mischief, Wright’s is your bar. Long may it reign.

Classic Soap with a Clean Traditional Scent
I’ve used Wright’s Coal Tar Soap for years and it still gives that really deep clean feeling you don’t get from many modern soaps. The traditional scent is strong but fresh, and it leaves skin feeling clean without being overly harsh. The bar lasts well, lathers nicely, and is great for everyday use. It has that nostalgic old-school quality that many people still swear by today. A reliable classic that continues to do the job well

Excellent soap, though maybe an acquired taste
Classic soap that I've used for years, excellent value for money and feels great on the skin. Lasts a decent amount of time, too. It has a smell that might not suit some; I'd suggest buying a bar to try it out - at this price point, you can't go wrong!

Great soap, unmistakable scent ! 😄
This soap definitely does what it’s meant to do and leaves skin feeling really clean. That said, the smell is strong and very old school. Honestly it makes you smell like you just walked out of a shoe maker’s workshop. Not unpleasant, just very distinctive. It’s clearly a classic for a reason! The smell is very unique. Great cleansing power and long lasting, but the scent might not be for everyone. I’ll keep using it, just maybe not right before heading out.
