Key chattering, otherwise decent board

The most disappointing thing is that the PCB is prone to chatter (keys (re)activating themselves at random when typing quickly) once every few hundred characters. Disappointing, not what I'd expect of a £60 RRP keyboard in 2024. The screen is cool but has major colour shifting and dimming if you're not hunched over the keyboard looking straight down on it. Also, the stabs may be factory lubed but they are rattly by design and need immediate replacement if you want a good sound. My unit had a permanent scuff on it right out of the box, so the QC must not be the best. Lastly I was disappointed that there's no way to set just a white backlight (R+G+B) like you can on other boards, even using VIA.Definitely only for touch-typists, which I am, but I still discovered that I habitually pressed the Y key with my left index on regular boards for some reason and had to learn to hit it with my right index instead. Not too bad of an adjustment and I can go back to regular boards no problem. The board sounds and feels amazing kitted out with lubed+filmed gateron reds and an old YMDK OEM-profile pudding keycap set. It sounds deep and creamy, and the switches are super smooth - I love it. In general I like using this keyboard quite a bit, but there's no excuse for the chatter at this price and in this day and age.You can use any version of VIA you want, but in V2.x and V3.x you have to enable the design tab and drag the JSON file into it to enable the functionality.I may attach some photos and videos in due course.

Good keyboard at this price point

Pretty good keyboard except for disassembly. It supports wireless, it supports VIA (not QMK) which is safe and easy to use, it has an lcd, so functionality wise, good. But once I tried to open it, i started to hate it because it was one of the tightest keyboard i bought. It sounds and feels good out of the box, so i gave up disassembling it. So besides the disassembly part, i like this keyboard and i don't think there is an alternative to this one (wireless via alice) at this price point

Downgrade to VIA 1.3.1

I downloaded the latest VIA 3.0 and the keyboard would never get recognized, no matter what I did. I happened to have a copy of VIA 1.3.1 for diagnostics and both the 2.4 and the USB .JSON files worked perfectly. Not sure as to why, I may reach out to Epomaker and Cidoo for clarification.Otherwise, 1.3.1 lets me map perfectly fine.Moved to this from a FancyAlice066 for wireless and Bluetooth. They feel very similar as both are ALICE keyboards with minor changes - Including 2 separate "B" buttons. Will take some getting used to, my WPM went down by 10.Typing this much on it now, it's the extra "B" button throwing me off.The LEDs are nice. The color pallet is a little lacking and with my keycaps, its a little dim. But there's a round, programmable LED in the bottom left corner, It's *VERY* bright, so a set of clear/translucent keycaps would help if you love the Unicorn puke look (No, the LED in the corner is *NOT* a button, glued it back when I got the case open)Screen is nice (for such an odd resolution and aspect ratio) and easy to modify with the cidoo drivers - although designing your own image in the supplied driver is *VERY* lacking, it works flawlessly for uploading/updating the GIF or IMG you choose - just be aware the aspect ratio is really odd, so you'll need to be careful of what you pick OR get good at playing with Photoshop/GIMP.The time and date will automatically update to your system when you use the Cidoo software.I couldn't get my Akko Cream Blue Pro v3 switches in at first, struggled to get the case open, and found a plastic layer between the PCB and the dampener/foam - peeled it off and they went in perfectly. The Akko switches sound amazing, BTW. Nice and thocky with PBT GKM 8008 keycaps. The stabilizers are plate mounted, but feel good - my Akko 5075s are plate mounted and feel almost the same. I used Permatex Tune-Up Dielectric grease 22058 on them and they are nice and smooth. I have a keyboard with Durock screw ins and I honestly can't tell a difference. All in all, this is a very good designed and sturdy built keyboard that I will be using as my daily for the foreseeable future.8.87/10 stars - I recommend this to someone getting into custom ALICE keyboards to play with and grow.

Impressive budget Alice keyboard

Honestly for the price i would give this a 5 star. Out of the box with no mods the board sounds very good.Gasket mount with flex cut plate gives a nice typing feel with the “bounce”.Getting to work with VIA is extra work but not hard, just need to download the JSON file and it should load in VIA.Overall im happy with the board, just wish it came in an aluminum case instead of plastic.
