Sceptical at First...
When I saw these pop up in searches, I was really sceptical. I read the Q&A and reviews but I was still skeptical. I finally bought a package to try them out. I was really impressed by how well the Drain Smart worked! I haven't tried one in a pot that's a larger diameter than one though, but based on my experience mentioned below, I don't know if one would work very well. There's one problem I have. They advertise the Drain Smart can be cut to fit smaller sized pots because they only make a few sizes. I tried that on a couple pots and on one that is irregularly shaped. Unless you can cut with perfect accuracy, the Drain Smart doesn't work well. I end up with dirt that starts to drain out when I water the plant. Granted, it's not a lot of dirt, but it's more than if I put rocks in the bottom. I can see how these would be really beneficial in outdoor pots. I have two foot long rectangular over-the-railing planters. I would love to use these over the holes in them but cutting a circle to fit in a narrow rectangle would be a waste. What they need to do is make the Drain Smart in smaller diameters and in rectangles. Or somehow change the design so they are easier to use with smaller pots. If it's a perfect fit in the planter, these rock!

Simple Drain for Potted Plants
Works so much better than trying to retrieve gravel for needed draining at the bottom of the plant pot....can be cut to size if too large

If cutting to size, cut oversize
I have a potted plant tree that takes a specific size pot and I haven't been able to find that size with a cup underneath to retain water longer. So I decided to try lining the pots with drainage discs. I had to cut them down to size which was fairly simple. They seem sturdy but a good pair of kitchen/gardening scissors worked fine on them. Unfortunately, I left a bout a 1/4" or less gap around the bottom of the pot and all the water still just comes right out the bottom. Or at least it looks like that. I love the look of my herb garden in this potted plant tree, but watering them daily when I have no hose nearby is a pain. I was hoping this would at least get me to every other day. I'll revise this post in a few weeks if I feel it retains enough water to help. Leaving them full size and letting the disc come up the side of the pot wasn't an option because the plastic/felt was too thick to bend and contour. I wouldn't have hand enough space left to properly plant the plants. That may work for a larger size where there is more weight holding the discs down.

easy to useand store!
the drainage disc is handy and easy to store for use. rocks are are expensive and heavy and take up room when storing. the disc are easy to use and clean. good idea.
