I bought these in desperation to keep my pot plants alive!! I love them! I know my plants are watered all the time, I don’t have to remember every single day! They work a treat!!

I bought this to make watering more consistent without constantly guessing when my plants are thirsty, and it does exactly that. Once it’s set up, the plant can take what it needs, and my soil stays more evenly moist instead of swinging between dry and drenched. What I like: - Helps smooth out watering, especially if you forget a day or two - Easy to use once it’s in the soil - Nice, clean look that doesn’t feel like plastic hardware sticking out of a pot Good to know: - It works best when it’s buried securely so it doesn’t wobble - You still need to match it to the pot size and the plant’s thirst level (small pots or heavy drinkers may need refills more often) - If your soil is super compacted, loosening it a bit can help the water distribute more naturally If you want lower-maintenance, more consistent watering, this is a great little upgrade.

Love these for my tomato plants that I have in large pots on my balcony.

I am impressed that they really work! I was skeptical on recieving the clay bottles at first but gave it a try. Thanks to the slow-release water in each jug, my tomato plants really thrived esp during summer heat. I only have to refill every 6-7 days when the bottle is empty.

I have quite a few ollas, mostly Olla spikes, and three 500ml Ollas from a different company. I have also made my own, using terracotta plant pots (with lids) plugged by a cork. I wet soaked this Olla the day it arrived and then planted it in fresh potting mix, without watering the mix, and left it for 24 hours. As expected, most of the water had leeched through the Olla into the dry soil, with the Olla being only about a quarter full. However, we have had torrential rain over the last few days in South Australia and I’m still having to add water to this Olla even though the soil is saturated. Today it was over half empty!! My homemade ollas have hardly leeched any water into the surrounding soil. The whole point of an Olla is that it shouldn’t loose water in wet soil. If this is what is is like in the wet, I’m not sure how it will stand up during the hot, dry summer. I’ll probably end up removing the top and inserting a 750ml bottle into the lip so I have better visibility. A little disappointed as it looks quite lovely.
