Freshly Fermented - Organic Kombucha SCOBY (5L)

As a first time kombucha maker, I would appreciate clearer instruction from the manufacturer website. Steps to make tea etc were easy to follow however, I experienced difficulties one trying to split kombucha between two jars. So currently my 5L scoby is leaving and fermenting in one much smaller than 5L jar. Also, there's no advise what to do with the liquid in which scoby arrived. It was working at the beginning, the tea was bubbling up so I knew it was working. After few days I'm not sure what's happening - just doesn't look like it is working anymore? I did follow the instructions, I also educated myself a bit more on making kombucha. I'm on day 3 currently so giving it cautious 3 stars for the moment, mainly due to not extremely specific instruction for newbies like me. My packet didn't leak so it was ok.

This simply does not contain everything you need to make kombucha. It's an incomplete product- no starter culture. It was well packaged though and no leak issues.

I requested this Freshly Fermented - Organic Kombucha SCOBY (5L) for my husband. He enjoys preparing all manner of Asian drinks and traditional cuisine. We are first time kombucha makers, so it was slightly disappointing to only receive the scoby. The product arrived well packaged and in immaculate condition. I was pleasantly surprised that 5 litres of product hadn't leaked all the way from its destination. There are some very basic instructions and we had to research what to do with it online. The scoby itself appears to be very good quality and the packaging is reassuringly secure. I don't know about the efficacy of the overall kombucha product as he quickly lost interest. It's a shame but this appears to be largely for those used to preparing kombucha on a regular basis. Overall, a slightly misleading product description but a good quality scoby at a reasonable price.

I have given a generous 3 stars because my problems with this item may be more due to the transportation, rather than the producer. I do like to support UK producers and this product gets well reviewed on the company website. Unfortunately I had a small leak on the packet, so felt unable to try the fermentation process out. There was also a sticker over the QR code link to instructions, although there are very clear instructions on the company web page if you search for them.

I was under the impression that this was a complete kombucha starter kit but you only get the scoby. The starter tea required is not supplied. Also I did find the retrival of instructions a little cumbersome as you need to scan the qr code then try and find them amongst a lot of other recipes. The packaging, however, was great and the scoby also appears to be of great quality!

i have questions about the way this product is packaged... I bet there have been numerous instances when this product arrived leaked or empty... It was not my case, but it feels so fragile and can pop in any moment. It tastes good, in line with other kombucha products by the taste, but the packaging can be further improved.

Third time trying to submit a review on this product! The scoby I received had no starter culture and was not viable. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this product.
