Yep it is. The infuser has 4 sides with a couple slits in the glass on each side to strain. Only like very very fine crumpled leaves or powder gets through. But I feel it strains way better than the ball infusers.

It is functional but does not filter tea leaves that are small. Also the handle is very difficult to use and because it is not insulated, even harder to use when hot.
