Can anyone comment on its ability to hold zero after using a 100 or so rounds of big-caliber or shotgun ammo? i'd like to use it on a 12ga. tks!

From my experience yes, I feel like they might be a hit or miss though. The first one I purchased for some reason would change colors after every shot but it would still hold 0. Only reason I still recommend is because their customer service is great. They replaced it after the month and I haven’t had issues with the replacement so far. Great for the price, if you’re willing to possibly deal with their easy going customer service.

Does it need to be removed to change battery?

No. The batteries cap is on the side the reflex sight. You can easily replace the batteries without removing the sight.

Does this unit have an off button or does it always stay on?

Press both 2 switch is the off button.
