Will a standard transformer fit inside

NO. This unit simply gives TWO WATERPROOF outdoor sockets - supplied from your mains. The remote control can switch on either of the two sockets separately - or both. Very useful for my under-porch Christmas lights - no need to go outside on a bad night to turn them off or on. But, sadly for you, no transformer space.

Can I mount this inside a weatherproof enclosure or does it need to be line of sight for correct operation?

Hi This unit is IP rated up to IP66 but if you require bigger protection yes you can place it inside a waterproof box . As this switch is radio controlled type it will be ok . Just bear in mind it can shorten to control distance .

can you use slow blow fuses or do you use normal fuses

I would use normal fuses. Or a MCB. Best wishes.
