Love this
Got this because it was recommended by a family member who knows what he’s talking about. It was super easy to install and works amazingly well. The screws were easy to use especially since we were replacing an existing smart lock. It fits the door very well, in fact better than the original lock on our door. Only a few small complaints. 1. It’s frustrating that to connect it to wifi to use remotely you have to buy another expensive component. While the cheaper one we replaced came with that feature out of the box (the design look use and hardware quality on that one was much worse so it’s obviously a trade off). I will likely buy the wifi component still, but it isn’t absolutely necessary. 2. When the battery is dying it’s honestly not immediately obvious. It seems to notify you with a different sound but if I’m honest it’s not clear. When the battery is low but not dead the touch screen seems VERY slow to respond and takes longer to open but the phone key and keypad still both work. With full battery the thing works fantasticly and the app and setup for guest codes is awesome. I love it, it was an upgrade for sure.

Great lock
I’ve gone down the road in the past of purchasing cheaper, knock off versions that work for a while, but ultimately fail. However, this lock is exactly what I should have Purchased From the beginning. The seamless Apple HomeKit integration is really what sold me on this lock. The lock is stylish and does not take away from my houses look. It was really easy to replace my older deadbolt with this lock. It Took approximately 20 minutes (This includes a HomeKit set up). The only Slight negative is they have different versions of this lock. Be sure that you get the HomeKit version If you have An apple ecosystem. Also, some of the versions come with keys and home key. Double check before you purchase to avoid having to send it back. The bottom line, go ahead and pay the extra money and you won’t be disappointed. The ability to use Siri to open your door or the home key is awesome.

Prone to getting locked out...
For the first ten months, this lock worked flawlessly. Installation was not much different from a regular, non-smart deadbolt. Apple Home Keys is awesome. The battery lasted nearly a year--I have the Bluetooth-only, non-WiFi model. DoorSense (magnet version) worked well. It accurately detected when the door was opened or closed. The auto-lock feature was great. Then, around the ten-month mark, the lock started falling apart in multiple ways. I won't go over all of them, but two failures stand out. First, the DoorSense stopped working. The DoorSense always thought that my door was closed. I had to turn off Auto-Lock because it would lock the door while it was open. Second, and most importantly, the motor began to malfunction. The motor would not rotate the lock all the way, which meant the deadbolt would not fully retract. If the deadbolt didn't retract all the way, the door wouldn't open. This was prone to getting locked out. If you were attempting to unlock the door from the outside, you HAD to rely on the motor to unlock your door. There was no key. The lock still worked fine if I manually operated it with the latch... which was only possible from the inside. This did not help you when you were outside trying to get in. To fix both the DoorSense and the motor, I tried different troubleshooting steps: * changed batteries * re-calibrated the lock * factory reset * took the lock off the door, re-installed it * made sure the strike plate and deadbolt aligned None of these steps fixed the issues. Not being able to fix the issue myself, I ventured out to work with Yale customer service. This was a less-than-pleasant experience. I contacted Yale via email. In my original email, I included my lock information and my proof of purchase. I asked what I could provide (videos, photos) for them to assess my lock. Within a day, I got a response from Yale. They asked me to email them photos and videos of the issue. I tried, but the videos were too large (above 25 MB), so the emails kept bouncing back. I emailed them back asking how I could send them the videos because it wasn't possible through email. A day later, they responded asking me to upload them to iCloud or Google Drive. I uploaded the videos to iCloud to a publicly shared folder. I replied to their email with the iCloud link. A few days later, they responded saying they could not view the videos. They said that they did not have access to the folder and to check the access. They sent me a screenshot of them trying to access the iCloud folder. They were in the folder, but iCloud was asking them to sign into an Apple account. I replied to the email saying that they clearly had access--they just needed to sign into an Apple account. They replied back saying that iCloud wasn't an option for them and that I needed to upload them to Google Drive or something else. This is when I started losing my patience because they were the ones that originally asked me to upload to iCloud or Google Drive. Fine: I uploaded to Google Drive and sent them a link. A day later, they responded apologizing for the issues with the lock. They sent me troubleshooting steps. These involved taking the lock off the door. They asked me to see if the motor had the same issues if it was rotating while detached from the door. The issues still persisted. So I replied to their email stating that the motor still made the same high-pitched screeches and still struggled to rotate all the way. They replied to my email a day later with this message: "We are sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing with your lock. We are more than happy to assist you. The videos that you are sending are blocked, we do not have access to them. Please try to send them in a different format." Confused and frustrated, I emailed back saying they'd already reviewed the videos... that they'd sent me troubleshooting steps... that I'd performed the troubleshooting steps... and that I was reporting back the results. Finally, a day later, they replied saying they would look into next steps for sending replacement parts for my lock. This was a few days ago, and I have not heard back from them. It has been over a week since my original contact to customer service. This lock is not worth the money. The issues that occurred when the lock started failing were not minor issues. Getting locked out is a terrible feeling for anyone. It sucks that the lock worked flawlessly during the return window. It felt like a scam.

Solid lock but has calibration issues
Overall, the lock itself looks great and feels solid. Setting up the lock is a little painful, but eventually (after several retries/resets) it'll work. The only issue that I have now is the lock calibration. It works well after calibration but when you use the app to lock/unlock it leaves it in a state where it doesn't fully lock and unlock. This causes the lock to not know that it's locked/unlocked so either you have to a) recalibrate or b) manually twist the lock to lock/unlock. I've contacted Yale and they've sent a replacement but still the same issue so I think this is a software issue. I hope they'll fix this in a software update but I don't have much confidence since I have not seen any software updates on my other Yale locks.

Pretty convenient with an apple watch.
Setup process was too dumbed down too much, that it was kinda annoying. Yale app could be better, it was neither simple, nor intuitive. So what suppose to take 20 minutes, took about 40 minutes. But its ok, since its like a one time thing. Once you have everything set up, and added homekit it works flawlessly. Using an apple watch is convenient. And you can control everything with an apple homekit. *** 8 month update *** This has been the most convenient lock I have ever used. It's been flawless for me, didn't need to change the battery after 8 months. With that said I haven't used all the fancy features of the lock, i.e. auto-lock/open, wifi stuff(don't want wifi) and etc. My usage of it is placing my Apple Watch next to it to open, and pressing a button to close it, I no longer have any keys that I have to carry. I've tried opening the lock with my phone once, and it worked. I highly recommend the lock.

Very Nice Lock, Great Features, Easy-ish install.
I love the ability to lock/unlock using my phone, keypad, or remotely when you install the Smart Module. The app is good! The installation required dremiling out my door a little so the strike plate wouldn't hit when I closed my door (my old deadbolt was Shlage, this one needed a little bit more depth), but once I figured out the problem, it only took a few minutes to fix. The app is nice and provides videos, but the videos are for an older model, and a few of the images didn't match, such as the mounting plate is different from the one seen in the video.

Frustrating both in software and mechanical.s
Its easy enough to install, but unlike Apples "it just works", it just doesn't. You can't both be an owner and use a pass code seems like, and the calibration on and off says the lock is jammed when it clearly isnt. When I first installed it, it did what I wanted - Walk up with my apple watch or iphone, hold it close and it unlocks, however it kept saying it was jammed. I redid everything and it doesn't say its jammed anymore, but it won't auto unlock anymore and my wife and kids can't seem to use it either, and I can only use it by installing the app and unlocking it in the app, but not using a code. Just overall a frustrating experience. Will likely remove and return it and try a different brand.

Attractive lock with unbeatable convenience
This is our second smart lock and the first by Yale. The exterior unit is surprisingly small (no key) and attractive and has a premium feel. The interior unit is chunky but also attractive and is smaller than our Lockly. Installation is easy. Took less than 10 minutes to swap with our Baldwin deadbolt and maybe another 10 to set up the app and test. The killer feature is Homekit integration and the ability to unlock with iPhone or Apple Watch. I was surprised at how quickly this works--almost zero delay. I would recommend a HomePod Mini as a hub. Seems to work even better since I installed it as opposed to using our Apple TV as the hub (note I have non-WiFi version...I believe the WiFi model does not need a hub). If you have a mixed household (i.e. Android phone users) I would probably opt for the fingerprint reader version, but for all Apple households that use HomeKit, this lock er, unlocks additional features.

Homekey doesn’t work
It seems like the homekey functionality doesn’t work at all. Nothing happens when you tap the home key on the lock. I’ve reached out to support and they did the typical try a factory reset but as expected, that didn’t do anything. It seems like this product hasn’t been well developed / tested and you can find many other similar stories.

Homekey is awesome!
Homekey is a game changer! Disappointed the Yale matter module still hasn’t materialised but works fine with an Apple TV home hub. Battery life is around 6 months.

Doesn't work in EU
It's a bit weird situation. Bought from Yale amazon shop, delivered to Lithuania, but can't use it, because it requires Yale Access app, which is not available outside US and Canada. Seems like a common issue, too bad I didn't check reviews.

Works well. Best lock ever!
Great lock. The only negative is the relatively short battery life if you get the WiFi option. Just make sure you download the Yale US app, as this lock was built for the US.

DO NOT BUY!!!!!
AVOID AVOID AVOID - Amazon should be ashamed to even sell this product! I purchased this lock, paid for it to be professionally installed by a carpenter into my door, only to discover it couldn’t be set up to work. After hours of frustration, I contacted Yale support, only to be informed that the app required to operate the lock isn’t available in the UK! Save yourself the trouble and avoid this product if you’re in the UK.
