Great TV series, but on the very last disc of the very last season (4), three episodes are for some reason missing on the disc. It listed them in the menu, and you could select them to watch, but all they do is show the FBI warning and return you back to the DVD menu. Thus, there is only one episode on that disc, and the other three are missing. I thought it was rather strange, which is why I wrote this review. I ended up having to buy the missing episodes through Prime Video.

This is a review for the VEI Blu-Ray release of the full 4 seasons of Wiseguy. Is it perfect? No. Is it very good? YES! This is one of the better VEI releases. Not bad at all for a BUDGET release company. GOOD - Actually correct original aspect ratio and 4x3 video format. ACCEPTABLE (16:9 displays) - The framing has been set with side panels added to show properly on a 16x9 ratio display. This is not needed, but in some combinations of players and TVs is preferable for proper and easy viewing. So it is a Matted 16:9 video, with the proper 4:3 video centered in the frame. POOR - ACCEPTABLE (4:3 displays - depending on specific options on player and/or TV) - Sadly, this does make it a bit more difficult to watch on a 4:3 display, as it then is shown in letter box by default so you end up with black bars at the top added by the player, and the black bars on the sides from the disc mastering. This gives you a proper aspect ratio smaller than display image to watch. Many newer TVs, and a few players, let you ZOOM in to allow the small resulting image to fill the 4:3 display, but this is not available for everyone. Packaging - The discs in sleeves set in a standard size case with a cutout for the sleeves option, was used for this release. (at least the one I received.) This may vary over time, but it helps VEI to sell discounted budget sets of full TV series. Not my favorite, but it protects the discs well, possibly better than many standard cases. It also is easier than many standard cases to flip through the discs and pull out any desired individual disc. Video - The quality varies a little between episodes, but overall is very nice for watching a great show from the years it was produced. No complaints here. Audio - The volume levels do shift slightly between some of the episodes, but not to the point it is annoying. Not an issue, but noticeable. Music - I have not looked at everything in detail yet, but it seems this set may be the most complete as far as original music is concerned, as far as US releases on disc. At the price point for this, versus the PRE MILLCREEK releases, or PAL releases, when they can be found, I think I will not worry about hunting them down for comparisons, unless I see a real bargain on them. As always the original music is the best option for the original feel for a show. It is just very unlikely we will ever get a disc release that is complete with all the original music intact. But remember, this set does have much of it restored.

I had never seen all the episodes so I watched each entire season at one time. I enjoyed the majority of the story lines. I didn't notice any issues, although they do explain the age, etc. may have affected them in away that could not be corrected. As I said, I didn't notice any problems. Nice blast from the past!

Was always a fan of this program. Really happy they included "Dead dog Records" Icing on the cake. You will get your money's worth and then some. Every disc was clean and played flawlessly. Many great actors as well.

A very good series with good acting,stories and lots of crime.

Have watched most of the first season; very satisfied with the series thus far. Excellent crime action/drama series following Vincent Terranova (Ken Wahl) as he infiltrates various underworld organizations as an undercover agent. Well acted and filmed. Includes action, drama, some comedy, some violence (but not too graphic, nor gritty), and a good set of storylines. The picture is decent to very good. Although the VEI version mentions the condition of the video stock at the beginning of some discs, there is nothing really to complain about. Some scenes are softer than others, but it adds a feeling of aged realism. The audio is really good too. Recommend this set for all crime buffs interested in no-nonsense, classic tv. DVDs come in slip cover casing, housed within a plastic boxset container. Good. Picture is 4:3 or fullscreen format.

Excellent tv show.

I never thought I’d see the Dead Dog Records story arc again. So good to see it. The picture quality surpassed my expectation. It’s actually quite good. If you’re a fan of this incredible show, grab this while it’s available. I’m not sure if it’s locked to a particular region as I have a multi-region player. Best to do your research before purchasing. I don’t like the packaging, but that’s only a minor issue.

Very well packaged. Great series. Love it! Well worth the money BUT, extremely disappointed that episode 9 in season one was changed from Moody Blues segment. That, to me, was the most powerful scene.

All discs played without any issues. Good price for a good TV series. Would purchase from this seller again.
