I love that you can use these in low water level
I had gotten two baby Reeveโs turtles and I kept seeing that they are not known to be good swimmers and as babies, they shouldn't be in water any deeper than 2 inches and when I got them, I did notice that they don't float very well and to breathe, they prop their bodies up on things to stick their heads out of the water. I love that these filters are specifically made for low level water and I love that they can be upright so they take up less space in the aquarium. At first, I was using the turtle clean 40 that came with the reptihabitat kit, but it stopped working after a few days and I didn't like that it had to lay flat, thus taking up more space. So, I bought a second one of these. I was wondering if the turtles wouldn't like them because I read that they like slow moving waters, but actually I would watch them sometimes, stop underneath the waterfall and let the water beat down on them. Though, I did have to turn down the intensity to halfway on the knob so the waterfall wouldn't just pull them underwater. But I did put some extra river rocks in the waterfalls, plus an extra plant there, so they have something to grab onto while underneath it.Edited a month later: so, at first, for the first month I was feeding the turtles in their main tank to acclimate them to their new surroundings. I had to deep clean the tank at least every 4 days because the water would get so cloudy. Their food would get stuck to the bottom of the filters and block the grills. It looked awful. I think most of their food would get stuck to them. I didn't want to turn them off completely, so I would turn them down to the lowest setting, but the food would still get stuck. Because of the river rocks, I couldn't just scoop out all the leftovers. After they started getting used to me and their new home, I'll take them out now and feed them in a separate container. I haven't had to change the water in a week now and the water is staying crystal clear, running at the medium setting. I still plan to clean out their tank at least once a week, so there's no buildup of ammonia and the sort in there.

Terrible Design / Dangerous
The suction cup design to hold it in place is terrible. It keeps sliding down every time after three or more days. I keep having to re adjust it so that it doesn't completely fall under water in my fish tank. Also, the top lid where the knob is to adjust the flow of water comes off very easily as well. It doesn't latch on to anything and is very sensitive. You have to be very careful with it or it falls off. The item arrived on time and the water flows well through it. I wish it had a better method of keeping it in place. Would not ever buy again due to that reason. Very dangerous if it slides off since it can fall on my fish and kill them.

So far so good
Seems good so far. Works great for my kids crayfish. For crayfish, amphibians and for temporary turtle situations I don't see anything wrong with it yet. Seems to do its job to airate and clean. Also very quiet and love that you can adjust the strength of it.The only thing I would add is that make sure your tank cover is escape proof if using for a crayfish because they can climb just about anything up and out of a tank. However, it helps that the intake on this product is low on it and the sides dont have anything grippy for a crayfish to climb. Also a plus for the product. So 5 stars for crayfish ๐

Make sure the filter must have the white side face out! Make a Huge difference!
When I first installed the filter, it did not did a good job cleansing the water. I followed the instructions to clean once a week. The water looked cloudy. But once after cleaning the filter, the water turned very clear. Then I realized that I must did something right to get the perfect filtering. All I can think of is the black and white filter. the white side must face out. Now the tank keeps clear for over a week without any problem.

Great product.
The noise level is not to bad unless it gets clogged up;. It's flow kind of slows down some but just have to keep up on the maintaince.

Great filter!
Usually skeptical of negative reviews as 9/10 times it's user error other then getting defective products out of the box and in which case I've only ever had to return 1 item in 5 years due to such circumstance. That being said this filter really does pump really well! only using it in 3" of water for a 30 gallon salamander tank and it does the job, Rinse the filter 1x a week and no issues so far. Only thing negative to say is the filters don't have any actual carbon just a mesh and balls. Seems you can also use other filters for this just have to adjust water to flow slower.

Doesn't do the job
This filter just doesn't do the job. Our rescue turtle is still swimming around in filth. So I guess we'll have to change her water every single day or get a more powerful filter. This one pretty much does nothing. Very disappointed.

No replacement filters available anywhere
Filter work fine but havenโt been able to find replacement filters since purchasing a year ago. Might have to buy a whole new system because of that.
